Environmental management is a modern method of taking into account the benefits of environmental protection in the implementation and planning of the activities of any organization. It is also an integral part of modern control systems.
Environmental management has several perceptions. Today it is presented as a management, which, in turn, is limited by the need to protect
the environment. Environmental management is presented as a kind of wildlife management. This is an increase in the ability of nature to adapt to industrial production, its adaptation to it.
There is also an opinion that environmental management is the regulation of culture and public relations in the field of public opinion. That is, only public opinion and human culture can neutralize the negative aspects of modern technology.
Also, environmental management is often compared with regional production progress, that is, they turn it into a regional management.
The concept for the development of environmental management is fully focused on management issues related to ecology, accepted as an object of management. The need for environmental management determines:
- sharp decline in ecology;
- delimitation of regional distribution of industrial production;
- increase in production capacity required by new technologies;
- the increased influence of production not only on regional, but also on world nature;
- differentiation of hazardous wastes, their sinks between countries of the world economy (waste concentration);
- the emergence of the content of environmental opinion and worldview in politics;
- trends in the development of scientific and technological progress (nuclear technology, biotechnology and others).
The emergence of ISO 14001 is one of the most significant international conservation initiatives. ISO 14001 is a series of international standards for a variety of environmental management systems designed for enterprises and organizations.
In accordance with ISO 14001, the mechanism for implementing a different environmental management system consists of the following steps:
- assessment of the initial situation;
- planning for the implementation of various environmental management systems;
- setting goals, objectives and program development;
- surveillance system or monitoring;
- an objective assessment of the performance of work;
- internal audit of various environmental management systems.
You can get an ISO certificate in three ways:
- In accordance with ISO 14001, when it is issued by a certification company or any foreign organization that is accredited in this field.
- In accordance with GOST, in this case the document is issued by a certification company that is accredited by Rostekhregulirovanie (Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology).
- Based on relevant standards that are developed on the basis of ISO 14001 and GOSTs, by private organizations or self-regulatory organizations (SROs).
