Fedor Tyutchev was seventeen years older than Athanasius Fet. The difference in age, the places they visited and in which they lived left an imprint on the works of the great Russian lyricists who were able to express their thoughts and feelings in poetic form like no one else. Mass readers-contemporaries rather coldly related to their poetry, and only time put everything in its place. These two geniuses are close to a reverent attitude to Russian nature and love. Let's compare Tyutchev and Fet.
The uniqueness of poetry F.I. Tyutcheva
Fedor Ivanovich wrote a little over four hundred poems in his life. Yu.M. Lotman divides them into three periods. We confine ourselves to the analysis of works, which reflect the life of nature with its deep philosophical implications, and love lyrics. A comparison of Tyutchev and Fet in these areas of poetry shows the difference between the captivating grace of “pure art” by A. Fet and the fullness of F. Tyutchev’s thoughts and genuine, though mean, expressions of feelings.
Living in Nice after the death of E. Denisyeva, which he was very upset, the poet writes the poorest poem in which he compares his life with a bird with wings broken off. She, seeing the bright brilliance of the south, its serene life, wants and cannot rise. And all of it "trembles with pain and powerlessness." In eight lines we see everything: the vibrant nature of Italy, the luster of which does not please but disturbs, the unfortunate bird, which is no longer destined to fly, and the Man who experiences her pain as his own. A comparison of Tyutchev and Fet, who also survived a personal drama, is simply impossible here. They speak Russian, but in different languages.
The poem "Russian Woman", which consists of two stanzas, is relevant today.
Its colorless and useless existence is briefly outlined in the vast, deserted, nameless open spaces. The lyrical hero compares her life with a cloud of smoke, which gradually disappears in the dim foggy autumn sky.
But what about love? She is only being analyzed. The poem "Summer 1854" in the beginning is permeated with enthusiasm, the witchcraft of love, which was given to two "for no reason." But the lyrical hero looks at it with “disturbing eyes.” Why and where is such joy? The rational mind cannot just accept it. We must get to the truth. According to the lyrical hero, this is only demonic attraction ...
F. Tyutchev is a subtle psychologist, and no matter what topic he takes up, he will certainly appear before us in all the greatness of genius.
Musical gift of A. Fet
A comparison of Tyutchev and Fet shows that no matter what picture both poets undertake, it will certainly reflect the face of nature or love, often intertwined together. Only A. Fet has more thrill of life, transitions of states. The poet reveals to us the world and its beauty, reproducing them very accurately and perfecting the nature of man. May Night is a poem that L. Tolstoy immediately memorized.
Here is a picture of the night sky with melting clouds, and the promise of love and happiness on earth, which is only achievable in heaven. In general, with all the indisputable musicality, Fet came to a joyful, almost pagan perception of being.
The relationship between man and nature in two poets
When comparing the lyrics of Tyutchev and Fet, it turns out that for Tyutchev there is no harmony between man and nature. He is trying hard to solve her eternal mystery, which this sphinx may not have. Fet admires her beauty against her will, she pours into it and splashes out in the form of enthusiastic works on sheets of paper.
What does love mean for each of them?
Tyutchev believes that love destroys a person. She is devoid of harmony. This element that suddenly comes and destroys an established life. She brings only suffering. A comparison of the poetry of Tyutchev and Fet shows that the latter and in adulthood have bright and enthusiastic colors to describe the outbreak of feelings: "The heart easily surrenders to happiness."
He remembers and does not for a moment forget his youthful love, but does not turn away from her tragedy in Alter ego and believes that there is a special court for true love - you cannot separate it from your beloved.
The world is the creation of the Creator. Both poets are trying to know the Creator through nature. But if F. Tyutchev looks at the world with a tragic and philosophical look, then A. Fet, like a nightingale, sings a song to his eternal beauty.
