Elistratov Semen Andreevich - a famous Russian short-tracker. He is the champion of the Olympic Games, a multiple winner of world and continental championships.
Biography
Elistratov Semen was born in 1990 in Ufa. From an early age, the boy was very active and mobile, so his parents decided to record him in the sports section. At first, Semyon attended taekwondo classes, but six months later he drew attention to such a sport as a short track.
One of the first who recognized the talent of a young athlete was coach Andrei Maximov, who is now Elistratov’s mentor. It was under his leadership that Semyon from an ordinary promising junior turned into a star of the world short track.
Despite a very busy training schedule, Elistratov managed not only to finish school well, but also entered the Institute of Physical Education, received a master's degree and a coaching license.
Sports career
According to the tradition of the sports school, beginner short-trackers receive the first skates as a gift from famous athletes. They got the seeds from the hands of Julia Chachina, who at one time became the winner of the European Championship. It also served as an incentive to Elistratov for hard training.
The young athlete showed sensational results for his age. In 2003, 13-year-old Semen Elistratov, for whom the short track was already in first place at that time, fulfilled the standard for the title of master of sports, and at 16 he made his debut at the World Cup.
After the 2007 Ufa short-tracker won the silver medal in the Russian all-around championship, he was accepted into the national team. It was from this moment that the star sports career of Elistratov began. He takes part in all international competitions. Also, a 20-year-old short-tracker goes as part of the Russian team to the Olympics in Vancouver, where he could not get into the top twenty.
The first successes in international arenas came to Semen in 2012. He becomes a three-time winner of the European Championship at distances of 1.5 and 3 km, as well as in all-around.
A year later, Elistratov replenishes his collection of awards with a silver medal of the world championship, as well as three European Championship awards, among which there was a gold one for the relay race.
The Olympic year was literally golden for the Russian athlete. He becomes a two-time European Championship winner, so Elistratov Semyon approached the home games in Sochi in great shape. And not in vain - he became the Olympic champion in the relay, where the Russian team managed to defeat the main competitors for gold medals - the Dutch team.
In 2015, Elistratov received a new title - he became the World Champion. In addition, he brought six awards from the continental championship, among which was gold for the crown relay for him.
In the next season, Elistratov Semyon becomes the three-time winner of the European Championship, as well as the world champion in the 1000-meter distance.
Due to the banned drug meldonium found in doping tests, the Russian athlete was forced to miss the World Cup in 2016. On April 21, Elistratov’s suspension was lifted, and he will be able to continue to play at the World Cup and other tournaments.
Personal life
In 2015, Elistratov married his longtime girlfriend Julia. According to the athlete, it was the wife who helped him calmly survive all the difficulties that arose due to the scandal with meldonium.
Semen loves to travel, and also collects cars.
