Ask yourself one important question: what qualities do you need to have in order to achieve well-being in life? Many will answer: you need to be very smart. However, not everyone can boast of high intelligence. So, such people cannot succeed? Not at all. This is evidenced by practice and various studies, for example, in the field of sociology.
Mind = wealth?
Truly wealthy people do not always demonstrate a high IQ on tests. So there are qualities more important than the mind? Yes, there is, and one of them is called character hardness. It is this feature that helps people overcome all kinds of difficulties and move towards the goal.
It all started with the fact that scientists set themselves the goal of studying the personal qualities of truly successful people. And this is what turned out:
- success in one area or another is achieved through hard work;
- in solving the tasks set, a conscientious approach and strength of character are important;
- the mind does not always mean success and wealth.
Ability or perseverance?
The modern education system sometimes incorrectly accents. Schoolchildren are often told about the importance of abilities, knowledge and broad-mindedness, but rarely about what else is needed for success in a future independent life. Meanwhile, one very interesting study is known in which two groups of schoolchildren participated.
The study was conducted in two stages. At the first, the subjects were instructed to solve a problem quite feasible by their age. Upon completion, one group was praised for ability and intellect, and the other for perseverance and perseverance. At the second stage, both groups were assigned new tasks, this time above the age level. And then a very interesting situation arose. Schoolchildren from the “persistent” group set about searching for a solution with the same zeal, not thinking about complexity. And the subjects of the second group did not make a single attempt to cope with the task. They decided in advance that it was too complicated for them.
Scientists concluded: abilities are important, but they are not enough to achieve the ultimate goal. Imagine: a child is smart and developed, for which he is constantly praised. Nor do they say a word about zeal. Such a child will soon stop developing, although he will still be proud of his abilities. To this will be added the fear of difficulties, the inability to resolve at least any difficult life task. On the contrary, simple perseverance is sometimes enough for a child with relatively poor abilities to achieve high results.
Do not lose potential
How do people lose perfect chances of success every now and then? The natural mind, abilities and talents require development, a kind of training. Our muscles without loads quickly weaken and flabby. The same can be said of intelligence. If you do not work on your personal qualities, degradation and the loss of a mass of various opportunities ensue. The main enemies in this regard can be called pride and impatience.
For a successful business, there is no need to keep complex formulas in mind, remember all dates. For example, in trade, it is important to correctly evaluate customer requests and be able to satisfy them on time. And for this purposefulness and firmness are needed.
Interestingly, not every current millionaire (and even a billionaire) can boast a diploma of a prestigious university. Many dropped out simply because they realized: a diploma does not guarantee the success of a future life.
Of course, all the arguments above relate exclusively to the business sphere. A person cannot make a good doctor or teacher without solid knowledge, intelligence and a share of talent. But in business it is often the opposite. People with high intelligence, but not decisive in nature, often become unreliable partners with a low level of responsibility. And vice versa. Not every popular musician is a graduate of the conservatory, business training is conducted simply by experienced people, and not qualified teachers (for example, Radislav Gandapas, Evgeny Guryev, etc.). And success for many is not a lottery ticket, but the result of tremendous work.
Everyone has a chance
Now the time has come to draw a conclusion, not by scientists, but by ourselves. No need to think that without a broad outlook and quality education, the road to a successful business is closed. It is necessary to learn something else: own business requires only firmness, perseverance and readiness to deal with difficulties.
