Legend of the harp
The composition of the stairwell in the building is complemented by a sculpture of a young girl, whom the people nicknamed Katya. In the Soviet era, the sculptural composition was a monument to a girl who held a harp in her hands and was surrounded by geese-swans. In difficult perestroika times, part of the flock of birds was put into scrap metal, another part moved to decorate the balcony of a large hall. Katie's figure was moved to a flight of stairs leading to the second floor. As a result of all the moves from her hands, her harp disappeared.
Immediately there were many versions of where a musical instrument could go. Among them were mythical and lyrical. Here is some of them:
- they assumed that the harp was stolen by a young man hopelessly in love with a girl, hoping with the help of a mythical musical instrument to achieve the location of her lover;
- they supposed that one of the workers accidentally damaged the harp, and in order to hide the traces of his clumsiness, he destroyed it;
- there was a more tragic version, according to which the harp was simply handed over for scrap.
Be that as it may, the disappearance of the harp is still an unsolved mystery that has turned into a local legend.
