Each person has such a gift as communicating with his own kind. We have the opportunity to express our thoughts, prove our opinions and even just keep silent with meaning. This is verbal and non-verbal communication.

The most familiar way of exchanging information for people is verbal. Verbal communication is a combination of all means that help to accurately express thoughts using phrases. These include oral and written language. With these verbal means of communication, people transmit huge amounts of information.

But if you suspect that the interlocutor is telling a lie, then pay attention to his gestures, emotions. They will most fully talk about the thoughts of this person. This method of communication is called non-verbal. Scientists have proven that speech contains only 20% of the information. While non-verbal way of communication reaches 80% of the interlocutor. People understand information at an unconscious level. Nonverbal means of communication include not only gestures, but also sounds. For example, coughing, crying, pausing a conversation, changing the tone, speech accents, logical stress , etc. It clearly shows the principle of non-verbal communication "conversation" between the mother and the newborn. He cries and other sounds trying to show his mood, problems. And the woman easily recognizes what the baby needs at the moment.

Often people communicate on a visual-tactile basis. Information in this case is transmitted literally with the whole body. A person with facial expressions and movements tries to influence the interlocutor. He, in turn, visually perceives and understands all this subconsciously. The same group also includes sight, touch.

If verbal and non-verbal communication contradict each other, then you should still trust your feelings. Anything can be expressed in words, but we cannot constantly control gestures and facial expressions, they give out the truth. So, if a person crossed his arms over his chest while talking with you, then he either hides the truth, or simply does not want to communicate. But if the interlocutor looks at you with an open look, makes gestures with open palms, then he is disposed to talk. But keep in mind that gestures can be random. If a person gives the same non-verbal signal several times, then he really thinks so. In the case when the gesture was single, then you should not attach importance to it.

Verbal and non-verbal communication also do not coincide if a person, while talking about something, looks away to the left. At the moment, his thoughts are busy inventing a situation. When the interlocutor is looking to the right, he is really telling you the truth now. If a person leans slightly towards you, then he is interested in communication. These are just a few body signals, you do not need to know them by heart in order to understand the non-verbal signs of the interlocutor. Intuition will help you recognize what a person wants to tell you.

Verbal and nonverbal communication can also be expressed in space-time form. The distance that occurs between people during a conversation expresses the degree of proximity. The distance to half a meter is an intimate distance. His family adhere. If the interlocutors observe a distance of up to 1.2 meters, then we can say that they are interesting to each other. So usually friends, acquaintances speak.

Verbal communication is perceived by the eyes, ears, fingers (blind people). Non-verbal communication is captured by all senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste), as well as intuition.

So, verbal and non-verbal communications are important means of communication. It is important that a person can sufficiently convincingly influence the interlocutor, skillfully manage speech, emotions and gestures. This is especially necessary for people whose profession is associated with constant communication. For example, a sales manager, consultant, bank employee, etc.
