Sport is one of the things that motivates people to action, new achievements and personal victories. This is especially powerful when a person (athlete) appears, whose achievements can discourage and prove that everything is possible. One of these people, without any doubt, was the sprinter from France Christophe Lemaitre (Christophe Lemaitre), which we will talk about now.
Sprinter Biography
So, who is Christophe Lemaitre? He was born in a tiny town in eastern France, named after the nearby Lake Annecy. It happened in the summer of 1990. The town, surrounded by peaks, teeming with lakes and rivers, as if pushing its residents to engage in sports in the fresh air. Our hero was no exception. Having started athletics at the age of 15, in 2009, the rising star received her first recognition. It was then that the European Athletics Association recognized Lemeter as one of the most promising runners in the vastness of an old European woman.
The very next year, Lemetre Christoph became the real pride of his homeland, the first Frenchman in history to take the title of Europe's best athlete. From this began his path to future victories and the heights that he has yet to achieve.
Athlete Awards and Regalia
The list of awards of the Frenchman Christoph Lemetre, considering that he is only 26 years old, is truly stunning. According to the athlete himself, the secret of his victories is simple: you need to constantly improve your technique and enjoy every second of a workout. His extraordinary ability to work and zeal allowed him to break records and destroy stereotypes and clichรฉs.
European Athlete Achievements
At the first big competition (European Championship 2009), French sprinter runner Christoph Lemeter took 7th place at a distance of 60 meters with a score of 6.72 seconds. But for the first time it was good, very much so.
And now, just a year later, Lemetre Christoph triumphantly performs already at a hundred-meter distance, winning gold in Barcelona. In the same 2010, at the end of the season, they will set a record at a distance of 100 meters in the framework of the continental cup in the city of Split (Croatia) - 9.97 seconds.
The next season for the Frenchman began in two ways. On the one hand, he managed to repeat his personal record at a distance of 60 meters, showing the best result among European athletes. The time for which he ran this distance was 6.55 seconds. However, in the final of that competition, he was able to take only third place. Especially offensive was the fact that this European Championship was held in Paris, indoors, and only himself could be blamed for this.
A kind of revenge for this failure was the brilliant performance of the Frenchman in the team competition in Stockholm. France took fifth place in that championship, which would have been impossible without the contributions of Lemaitre and his team. They won at distances of 100 and 200 meters. Personal indicators of Christophe at a distance of two hundred meters and did become a record for the then European Championship.
In total, Lemeter Christoph became the four-time European champion: three times in 2010 and once in 2012 at a 100-meter distance. His further achievements in European competitions are not so significant.
Performances on the world stage
The arenas of world sports competitions met the young runner from France not so cordially. So, at the 2015 World Cup, reaching the final became an impregnable fortress. To enter the final stage, it was required to run out of 10 seconds, which did not work out. At a distance of 200 meters, the results were even more modest. But in the relay of 4 to 100, the French performed quite well, although not without the participation of good luck. There was a rather interesting fact: after the competition it turned out that American athletes used doping, and, as a result, were disqualified. Thus, the French, including Lemetre, received bronze medals.
In 2016, Lemeter did not participate in the European Championship, he freed up time in favor of preparing for the main competition of the four-year period - the Olympics. Sochi Olympics met the Frenchman with a rather severe hug. The hundred-meter he fell in love with did not become a triumph, or even a prize. But the bronze medal was submitted to the young athlete at a different distance, albeit based on the result of the photo finish.
Lemetre Press
When we fall in love with the talent of a certain athlete, we really want him to be an example to follow in ordinary life. That, of course, is Christoph Lemeter. A rather restrained young man gives very mature interviews. So, he always reluctantly answers questions about his personal life, explaining this by his unwillingness to let him into the personal press. Is Christophe Lemaitre married? He has a girl, but they have not yet legalized the relationship.
When it comes to competitions, plans, achievements - the Frenchman is very, very talkative. He respects his main competitors and is not rude in response to negative reviews about him. Answering a correspondent's question about the fact that he is called the first white-skinned person who ran out of 10 seconds at a distance of 100 meters, Lemeter said that he did not see the reason for victory or defeat in his skin color. He always focuses on hard work and long training, which, of course, only emphasizes his image of an outstanding athlete and man.
Competitive fight
Respect for competitors is a sign of maturity. However, sports malice is needed for victories. The main competitor of the French athlete, of course, is Usain Bolt. This black runner amazes everyone with his performance. Christoph, answering questions about him, recognizes his leadership at the moment. However, he always makes a reservation about the fact that if he continues to work as hard to perfect his equipment in training, he will be able to break the records of the famous vis-a-vis.
Another reason for Christophe's nerves is the eminent Justin Gatlin. Once the Frenchman was asked a rather provocative question: "Do you think that Gatlin has great natural talent?" The answer, as always, was accurate and delicate, and in it Christophe stated that he did not pay much attention to his rivals and was concentrating on himself. This position accompanied him throughout his career, from an early age.
Instead of an afterword
He never had idols, and he always looked only at his achievements and set himself more and more higher bar. Maybe thatโs why this white-skinned guy can compete with dark-skinned hegemons, which was not there for quite some time. Regarding future achievements or failures, one can only guess. However, there is a chance that in 2017 we will have a new world champion, and she is not at all ghostly.
