How to identify an imperfect verb

One of the most important categories of a verb in the Russian language is its form.

Imperfect Verb

Most units of this part of speech have opposed forms. For example, create - create, sign - sign, etc. If you compare the members of these pairs, you will notice that with the similarity of the lexical meaning, they have something different. This difference is the form of the verb. The first member of these pairs represents the imperfect form of the verb. The second - has the form of a perfect option.

imperfective verb
A view is a category of grammar that indicates unlimited or limited action. According to the school curriculum, their difference is determined by questions. The imperfect form of the verb suggests answers to the questions: what to do? what did you do? what will do what is he doing?

The perfect verb can answer such questions: what to do? What did you do? what will do

Perfect forms often have the completeness of an action, they call limited processes, they indicate an already happened result of an action. For example: a boy recovered.

An imperfective verb calls an action that develops, lasts, is not limited, and also indicates the repeatability and duration of the process. For example: a boy is recovering.

The category of the species is in close relationship with the discharge of time. So, the imperfect form of the verb has the forms of all three tenses, and the perfect - only the forms in the future and past. Since the present characterizes a process that lasts at the moment of speech, develops and continues, and the perfect form represents an action that is limited in development.

imperfective verb
Most often, the verbs of the Russian language are a pair by type. That is, the two forms have the same semantic meaning, but differ in grammatical form: to teach - to teach, to curl - to curl.

There are single-species. Unpaired verbs of a perfect form carry the meaning of an action limited in its development: to wake up, to reach. Unpaired imperfect means an action unlimited in its development: to sentence, sympathize, dwell. There are also two-type verbs in which the meanings of the perfect and imperfect categories are combined: execute, examine, injure.

Imperfect Communion

The verb form, which has the meaning of an additional action, which combines the characteristics of a verb and an adverb, is a participle. This part of speech is of two types: perfect and imperfect. In the second form, the process that occurs at the same time as the action of the verb-predicate is almost always called. Rarely does such participle signify a previous or subsequent action. For example: twice a year I visited the capital and, returning from there, loudly talked about the miracle. And this part of the speech of a perfect form usually means the previous action.

imperfection
The formation of a unit of this part of speech of an imperfect form occurs using the suffix –a (s) from the base in the present tense. For example, watching - watching.

Not all verb groups have this form. Among them:

- verbs with a basis in the present tense, which consists of consonants (mnut);

- verbs -i (pour) with a monosyllabic basis;

- verbs with the suffix -nu (wither);

- verbs on –a (call) with a monosyllabic base in the infinitive.

If the verb has a suffix –va–, then the participle is formed from the infinitive base: create - create - creating.
