Verbal communication is communication through words and speech. Literate human speech was considered a matter of pride at all times. Thanks to her, the social status of the individual increased. Communication exists in two forms - verbal and non-verbal. And if the errors in your gestures and facial expressions are not so obvious, then the errors in speech, even the most insignificant ones, become noticeable to everyone around. Therefore, it should be considered what happens to this communication, what are its features.
Note that verbal contact includes several actors, each of which can have several positions in it:
1. Listening. A person who perceives what has been said, heard.
2. The speaker. The person making the remarks.
3. The reader. Here the individual appears in two guises at once: a person, reading sentences, listens to them, and at the same time speaks them to himself.
4. Writer. A person who writes cues on paper or other storage media. He performs three roles: listening, speaking and reflecting.
5. Meditating. In this role, the individual acts when he conducts a certain conversation with his inner āIā. In this case, he speaks and listens at the same time.
Verbal communication, on the basis of this, is divided into two types: written and oral. Verbal verbal communication is spoken. It is possible in a situation where one person speaks and another listens. This type of communication appeared earlier than the others, because it does not require writing and reading skills. As for the written version of communication, a person here can act both as a reader and as a person who writes. Media of fundamental importance for this type of communication are: without them, it simply cannot exist. Such means may include the following: paper and electronic media, the existence of which became possible after the advent of the computer and the Internet.
Remember that as soon as a speech is delivered, it goes into oral form. Verbal communication easily becomes verbal, you just have to read the text out loud. Because the borders here are very thin.
However, very often in the process of communication there are some difficulties that impede the understanding and perception of information. Therefore, the concept of the so-called communicative barriers arose . They may be as follows:
1. Phonetic. It arises as a result of the presence of speech defects in the speaker (diction, accent, intonation features).
2. Logical, which certainly appears if the interlocutors have different types of thinking. An example is the level of development of intelligence.
3. Verbal communication may be difficult due to a semantic barrier. It arises between people belonging to different cultures and nations. The essence of the obstacle is that the same words have different semantic meaning.
4. Stylistic. It is inevitable when the message construction scheme is broken. To prevent this, it is necessary to strictly observe the order in which the message is transmitted: draw attention to it, arouse interest, indicate the main provisions, discuss and allow the interlocutor to draw a conclusion.
Verbal communication is built on four communication levels:
1. Intuitive. A person, having heard information from afar, understands what is being discussed, and also feels the reason or purpose of making a statement.
2. Ethical. Its signals are considered intonation, facial expressions, gestures and eyes.
3. Logical, which is a clear and structured exchange of information.
4. Physical, whose signals are touch. This is possible only when the distance between the interlocutors is insignificant.
