Badan - medicinal properties of the Altai plant

In the subalpine and forest belt of Altai, in the Western Sayans and in the mountains of Transbaikalia, a canoe plant is common. This is a perennial grass with a low (up to 50 centimeters) ground part. And the root system of a canoe is represented by a horizontal, relatively powerful rhizome (up to 3.5 centimeters in thickness and up to 1 meter in length), which goes into a vertical root. The leaves of this plant are basal, leathery, large, widely oval, dark green in color, on broad and long petioles. The flowers of incense are lilac-pink in color, bell-shaped. And they are collected in spreading, large, paniculate inflorescences. Another incense, the photo of which is located below, bears fruit. Its fruits are leaflets of greenish or reddish color, reaching 6-8 millimeters in length. The incense blooms in May-June, and in August its fruits ripen.

plant of frankincense

Mongolian tea, saxifrage thick-leaved, frankincense thick-leaved - these are also the names of the incense. The medicinal properties of this plant are provided by its content of sugar, tannins, glycosides, volatile, copper, iron, manganese and vitamin C. And these substances provide a disinfectant, anti-inflammatory, healing and diuretic effect of incense. Medicine for its purposes uses the leaves and root of this plant. Harvesting of roots occurs in early summer. For this they are dug up, washed with cold water, then dried, laying out on paper or cloth. If the root is large, then it is cut into pieces. A gram of 250 grams of medicinal raw material comes out of a fresh root. In this case, a properly dried root does not bend and breaks well, and at the break point it should have a pink or light yellow color. And it is advisable to store such healing raw materials for no more than 4 years.

Less commonly used are the leaves of the plant of frankincense. Their medicinal properties are manifested in hemostatic, astringent and antimicrobial action. And for these purposes only old leaves wintered under the snow are suitable. And they are collected in autumn or spring, washed and dried at a temperature of 60 degrees, stored in a paper bag or box. They are stored up to 4 years. Tea is brewed from these leaves, which lowers pressure, tones up, helps with kidney pathologies, pulmonary tuberculosis, rheumatism, gastrointestinal diseases, increases the rhythm of heart contractions, and relieves stress.
