A little bit about the Pionerskaya metro station in St. Petersburg

The Pionerskaya station of the St. Petersburg metro belongs to line No. 2, Moscow-Petrograd, indicated in blue on the diagram. On it you can cross the city in a straight line. Design names are Bogatyrsky Prospect and Prospectus Prospectus. However, in the end, the station was named in honor of the 60th anniversary of the All-Union Pioneer Organization, celebrated on the year of its opening.

What is she, Pionerskaya metro station in St. Petersburg

The project of the ground station pavilion was developed by two architects - V. N. Shcherbin and A. M. Pesotsky. A distinctive feature is its roof, consisting of folds with a far protruding visor. The trading premises built much later on both sides of it significantly changed the overall appearance of the pavilion.

The interior decoration of the station is also the result of the architectural work of two masters - A. S. Getzkin and V. G. Chekhman. Its design was originally laconic: the walls were covered with white ceramic tiles, a red-orange horizontal stripe was launched on the top, which resembles a grand pioneer uniform - a white shirt with a fire-colored tie tied over it. The name of the station on the track walls is in metal letters. Along the walls are lamps hidden by a metal shade. Lighting of the whole hall is carried out thanks to the arch highlighted by them. The end of the platform is decorated with an illuminated decorative composition, reminiscent of the sun half visible above the horizon.

Actual view of the pavilion

In the first decade of this century, the Pionerskaya metro station was redecorated - the white tiles were replaced with porcelain stoneware, metal letters were removed, the name of the station was written on a blue horizontal strip printed on the track walls, and a schematic image of the entire Moscow-Petrograd line was also located there. The illumination of the station's only ceiling vault became brighter. The gray granite flooring was replaced with a darker polished one.

Underground room before restoration

The station is located at a depth of 67 meters. Between the two tracks there is one direct platform, under which office and technical rooms are located. The only exit from the station is equipped with three escalators. An inclined course and a platform are connected by a staircase.

In front of the pavilion in 1986 (according to other sources in 1988) a bronze sculpture “Running children” (popular name “Pioneers”) was installed. This is the fruit of the work of two sculptors - V. I. Vinnichenko, L. T. Gaponova and two architects - V. G. Chekhman, V. G. Sokolskaya. Initially, the sculpture contained another element - a hoop located at the feet of the boy. Planned recovery of the lost fragment.

The nearest stops of this line (towards the city center): the previous one is Udelnaya, the next is Chernaya Rechka, each of them from the Pionerskaya metro train reaches in 3 minutes. The tunnels of the line segment to the Chernaya Rechka station have slopes extremely permissible for movement and are located under the underground river.

From the history of the Pionerskaya station

The station was opened on November 6, 1982 at the intersection of two avenues - Testers and Kolomyazhsky. Now this part of the city belongs to the commandant airfield of the Primorsky district of St. Petersburg. This section of the metro line runs along the former territory of the Commandant airfield.

Before the fifth line Komendantsky Prospekt station was opened, Pionerskaya was one of the busiest on the second line, and from December 1995 to June 2004 it was the most problematic in the entire St. Petersburg metro. It was then that the closure of two nearby stations of the first branch - "Lesnaya" and "Square of courage" for the complete reconstruction of the tunnels affected by the consequences of the accident in 1974, when the soil saturated with water of the underground river eroded the section under construction in accelerated mode.

During this period, restrictions were introduced into the operation mode of the Pionerskaya metro station - in the mornings it worked only for entry, in the evenings - for exit.

Due to construction work on the station, soil shifts are currently noted. Therefore, it is planned to close the "Pioneer" for major repairs. The project provides for the construction of a second exit.
