Anastasia Ermakova is a four-time Olympic champion in the Russian synchronized swimming team. In addition to this achievement, she is a multiple winner of the World and European Championships.
Biographical data
Ermakova Anastasia Nikolaevna was born in April 1983 in Moscow. From the age of four, the girl was seriously engaged in dancing, and from five she began to attend the synchronized swimming section.
In 1989, the 6-year-old Anastasia fulfilled the standard for the first youth rank. After that, the girl left dancing classes, fully concentrating on synchronized swimming.
Sports career
In 2000, while still a schoolgirl, Anastasia Ermakova fell into the Russian team. At that time, the synchronized dancer trained under the guidance of the famous mentor Tatyana Pokrovskaya, who was known for her exactingness.
The results were not long in coming. In 1998, Ermakova became the winner of the European Junior Championship, and in 2000 she repeated her achievement. At the age of 16, the synchronized girl wins the world championship among juniors.
Since 2000, Anastasia Ermakova has been participating in competitions on a par with older partners, but by no means worse than them. During her career, the athlete eight times became the world champion, both in the solo program and in the duet and group. In addition, the synchronist brought eight more gold awards from the continental championships.
The Olympic Games in Athens were the first for Anastasia Ermakova and immediately triumphant. Paired with Anastasia Davydova, the Russian synchronized dancer brilliantly performed under the composition “Don Quixote”, leaving no chance to her rivals. And a few days later, Ermakova received another gold medal of the 2004 Olympics for group performances.
Four years later, a pair of Ermakov-Davydov went to Beijing as a clear favorite. And they confirmed their status by superbly performing a short program for a folk composition. The victory in the Russian national team in the group made Ermakova a four-time Olympic champion.
Personal life
Unfortunately for many fans, Ermakova did not go to the London Olympics. Moreover, due to injury, she ended her golden sports career.
Together with her husband Mikhail and children, Anastasia permanently lives in Italy, where she works as a synchronized swimming coach. At the World Cup in 2015, she brought her Italian pupils to Ryazan.
Also, Anastasia Ermakova wrote the book “Dancing in the Water”, in which she talked about her sports career and coaching.
