Everyone knows that the football field is rectangular in shape, but it is unlikely that many will say exactly what size it should be. And if you take a special look at the broadcasts of matches from different sports arenas, you can see that the fields are of different sizes. And the coating on them is different, sometimes even artificial.
What should a football field really be? This is clearly specified in the regulatory documents of the main international organizations of this sport - FIFA and UEFA. It can be both natural and with
artificial grass. Currently, these lawns almost do not differ from each other in their properties.
The length of the field can range from 90 to 120, and in width from 45 to 90 meters. However, in order to conduct matches at the international level, only those with a length of 100 to 110 and a width of 64 to 75 m are suitable. In general, FIFA wants all football fields to be the same: 105 meters long and 68 wide. But in any case, the main rule must be observed, which states: the side line must be longer than the goal line.
And the football field should be correctly oriented along the sides of the horizon. It is recommended that stadiums be constructed in such a way that their longitudinal axis faces north. This is necessary to reduce the influence of the sun on the game. It should be noted that in Europe, international matches are held only on such fields.
The marking of the football field is carried out using lines no more than 12 cm wide. Long are called lateral, and short are the goal lines. Exactly in the middle, the field is divided by another feature. This is the so-called middle line, on which the center of the field is indicated. Around this point is a circle with a radius of 9.15 m.
On each of the halves of the field, goal areas and penalty areas are marked. They are symmetrical about the center line of the field. The goal area ends at 5.5, and the penalty area - at 16.5 m.
In each penalty area, exactly in the center of the goal line, an 11-meter mark is applied, with which the players shoot a penalty. From it, outside the penalty area, an arc with a radius of 9.15 m is marked. It helps the judge to ensure that the players during the penalty shootout (with the exception of the puncher) do not come closer to the ball than this mark.
The football field in four corners has special flagpoles, the height of which should reach 1.5 m. According to the safety rules, they do not have peaks at the top and are made of flexible materials. In each corner, an angular sector is marked - the fourth part of the
circle, the radius of which is 1 m. Sometimes flagpoles are installed 1 meter from the intersection of the middle line with the side.
Each football field has a goal set in the center of a special line. This is a very simple design of two uprights connected by a horizontal bar. The height of the posts must be 2.44 m, and the distance between them is 7.32 m. A net is attached to the gate outside the field. The crossbar of the gate and the rack is painted white.
Outside the field there is also a specially marked place - the technical area. Coaches and substitutes are located there during the match.
