Diplomatic relations between the Soviet Union and the Republic of Tunisia began in 1956. After the collapse of the USSR, the Russian Federation became its successor and officially relations between the countries were established on December 25, 1991.
History of Interstate Relations
The first meeting of the presidents of the two states took place in New York at the Millennium Summit in 2000. After that, in different years, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the delegation of the State Duma, and the Minister of Culture and Education visited Tunisia.
On October 23, 2011, elections to the National Assembly of Tunisia were held. History of the Russian school at the Embassy
An educational institution was opened in 1977, but it was only an elementary school, which provided for the education of students up to grade 4. In 1994, a secondary school was opened, the graduates of which could already receive a full secondary education, and in 2007 it received the official status of a comprehensive school at the Russian Embassy.
