Moreover, we do not need someone else's opinion, we need a solid foundation, thanks to which all people who speak Russian can conduct a dialogue. So, we need an explanatory dictionary. We open it and read that the verb “reassure” has two meanings:
- By giving hope, reassure, assure the fulfillment of anything desired.
- Promise someone to do something.
As you can see, there is absolutely nothing complicated. It can also be said that the verb we are considering can be reflexive, that is, written with the postfix -s (s). From this it follows that sometimes a person gives himself hopes, and quite successfully.
An almost textbook example in this sense is lovers, especially when their feelings do not find an answer from that side. If there is no full reaction, then a person invents it. Here the object of desire somehow looked in a special way, which means that everything has changed! And now there is hope! The reader probably knows, and if not, then be sure to get acquainted with this not so pleasant condition. Although the romantics would argue with us, finding in a senseless desire to reassure themselves (this is incredible, but true) is a secret pleasure. In general, there is absolutely nothing good in unrequited love, and do not believe that you will argue the opposite.
When are others encouraging us?
And there is no dearth of examples. Everyone who does not understand computers idolizes those who are knowledgeable in them. Imagine a situation, a person has a friend who promised to help him and after work to check the unit, which had once again become flogged, but could not for some reason. And the “victim” heartily shouts into his phone: “Why, then, was encouraging, it is indecent!” But we hope that friends will reconcile, and the computer will eventually work for some more time. And then you still have to fork out.
Worth believing but not reassuring
On the one hand, the object of research implies trust, and there is nothing wrong with this, and on the other, practice shows that when a person has already believed in something or relied on someone, it prevents them from acting on their own. It is not for nothing that there is a saying “hope in God, but don’t be fooled”, which contains a very wise idea: do not rely on either hope or hope, it can come out sideways.
In addition, if you don’t particularly hope for anything, any surprise from fate is perceived as a gift, and when high expectations are not met, people only grumble that fortune laughed at them, and the bonus from providence is not so great.
