Every gardener knows that getting a good crop of cucumbers is impossible without proper care. These green pimply "residents" of the garden beds are rather capricious and demanding and do not tolerate inattention. Not only that, for the normal development of ogudina and fruits, you need really perfect weather, i.e. moderately warm and moderately moist, this vegetable is also very “meticulously” regarding the quality of the soil, so the question of how to feed cucumbers remains always relevant.
Fertilizer rules for cucumbers
The modern chemical industry provides a huge selection of diverse products for fertilizing any vegetables and fruits, as well as for pest control. Unfortunately, without these preparations, a rich harvest is hardly worth counting. But in the process of applying fertilizers or other
certain rules must be followed in order not to harm the plants with their own “good intentions”. Before
feeding cucumbers, carefully read the instructions for the drug and remember
that fertilizing cucumbers is 5-6 times during the entire growth period. The first procedure is done seedlings when the second real leaf appears. The second time, cucumbers receive fertilizer at the beginning of the flowering period. And subsequent plant nutrition should be given during fruiting, every two weeks. It is strongly not recommended to apply any fertilizer in cold weather, as their roots will be poorly absorbed. And before each
top dressing, it is necessary to water the plant well, in order to avoid burning the root system.
What is the best way to feed cucumbers?
There is no single answer to this question, because you can use only complex mineral fertilizers or only organic, or you can alternate them. The main thing is to dissolve any product well in water. If you don’t want to use ready-made fertilizers and think about how to feed cucumbers so that they don’t “eat” chemistry, then you can make a “nutritious cocktail” for them yourself, and it’s completely free. Take a plastic bucket, put there all kinds of weeds (nettle, burdock, dandelions, etc.), fill them with water 1: 1 and insist for about a week. This mixture does not hinder “flavoring” with chicken droppings or manure (horse or cow). Before use, home fertilizer is diluted with water 1:10.
How to feed cucumbers with ash?
Regular wood ash is an invaluable fertilizer. It contains a full range of absolutely all the mineral elements needed by plants. With dry ash, you can just sprinkle the soil before watering. And you can make an ash tincture: 2 tbsp. tablespoons of ash pour a liter of water. The solution is insisted for a week, stirring occasionally. By the way, than to feed the cucumbers, the cucumbers themselves can also suggest. For example, if the fruits are pale in color and have a thin, curved tip, then they need nitrogen. If the cucumber looks like a pear, it lacks potassium. A variety of curvatures of the fruits are evidence of insufficient watering, and a thin “waist” appears if cucumbers are watered with cold (below +25 degrees) water.
