Only two cinemas operate in Vitebsk: “Cinema House” and “Mir”. The first is located at: Vitebsk, st. Lenin, d. 40, and the second can be found on Chekhov street, d. 3. Both cinemas of Vitebsk look pretty ugly. Previously, the city had seven such entertainment venues.
Where is the city of Vitebsk
This provincial city is located near the north-eastern outskirts of the Republic of Belarus, not far from the Smolensk region of Russia. It is the administrative capital of the Vitebsk region of the Republic of Belarus and the second oldest city in the country after Polotsk. According to legend, was founded by Princess Olga.
Cinema "Mir" in Vitebsk
Cinema "Mir" is located in the northern part of Vitebsk, in the Oktyabrsky district of the city. This is a building of the Soviet era, it was built back in 1961 and has not changed much since then.
There is a ticket office on the right side of the entrance, and on the left is a small, movie-like stall. Here you can buy a cocktail, popcorn, cotton candy and other sweets. Advertising posters for the upcoming movie premieres are made in the provincial style of the Soviet era, and those over 30 may be nostalgic for their childhood or youth. The exterior of the building will also remind of the Soviet past.
However, there are elements of modernity: a payment terminal and an electronic display. You can book your session tickets online. Plastic windows also remind of the modern era. Plumbing in the cinema building is updated and of good quality. But the rest of the interior and doors are very reminiscent of those that were in past times. The building has a lot of greenery.
The hall is quite simple, but the chairs are soft and new. There are few visitors to Mir. You can watch movies in 3D.
Cinema "House of Cinema"
This cinema of Vitebsk is the most ancient cinema of this city and even the whole of Belarus. At first it was called "Record", later - "Spartak". This cinema center received its modern name in 2006. The building itself is also ancient - it was built over 100 years ago. Exterior finish in pink. Now this house is considered a monument of architecture. Screening from analogue technology has been digitalized.
The hall for showing films is designed for 517 seats. It has:
- comfortable soft chairs;
- advanced digital cinema equipment;
- speaker system for creating surround sound "Dolby";
- equipment for showing films in 3D mode;
- screen size of 11.2 by 4.7 meters.
The building has a spacious lobby, a ticket office, a lobby and a hall dedicated to the history of cinema.
Thus, the cinemas of Vitebsk are an opportunity to watch films in a cozy atmosphere, without pomposity, but in acceptable quality by modern standards.
