sights
The southern cemetery of Ufa is quite modest, and there are not many interesting objects here. The only thing you can look at is a memorial to the victims of the crash that happened on the night of July 2, 2002. It was opened on July 13, 2003.
The author of the memorial is Ramzit Maskulov, who was later appointed chief architect of Ufa. The memorial is made in the form of a stele of pillars of marble: black and white.
They symbolize the trail of an airplane taking off. Around them, planes, symbolizing the souls of the dead, are strung on a spiral wire.
There are also local objects. On the territory of the cemetery is the Chapel of the Icon of the Mother of God βJoy of All Who Mournβ.
In the center of the cemetery is the Walk of Fame, in which the inhabitants of Ufa - Heroes of the Soviet Union and other famous figures are buried.
The cemetery also houses an obelisk for those soldiers who died during the hostilities in the Chechen Republic and Afghanistan. In total, more than 9.5 thousand officers and soldiers of Bashkortostan served in the war in Afghanistan, of which 343 died.
The fate of the cemetery
Recently it became known about the decision of the city administration of the Southern cemetery of Ufa to close. At the moment, only the expansion of the territory of this object is prohibited. At the same time, it is allowed to use the existing plots, if they have not buried there for more than 20 years, as well as in a previously reserved place. This type of site makes up about a third of the total area of ββthe cemetery.
Until recently, they wanted to close it already in 2017, but now it was decided to postpone this date to February 2019. The corresponding document can be viewed on the official website of the city. Now the main operating cemetery in Ufa is the North.
In the Southern cemetery of Ufa, the burial intensity has recently decreased from 10-12 to 5 people per day.
Conclusion
