Name origin versions
As mentioned above, Abaza (Republic of Khakassia) was built in the century before last. The reason for its appearance was the discovery of the Abakan iron ore deposit. After 10 years, a merchant from the Urals built metallurgical plants in this area (for processing iron and casting iron). These enterprises operated until 1926. And so the name of the settlement happened.
He received this name from the phrase "ABAKan Zavod." But this is only one version of the likely origin of the name. There is another one, according to which it is believed that the word translated from Khakass means โbear angleโ. To confirm this version, you can look at the coat of arms of this settlement - a predator holding a Kuznetsk hammer in its paw.
