Now she understands where her husband’s money went. She reproaches Dorant that he is following Jourdain’s case. The count says that he spent everything on it. The offended Dorimen leaves. Spouses continue to swear. At this moment, Coviel arrives, disguised as Cleont's servant. He seems to be an old friend of Father Jourdain and reports that he was a nobleman. Of course, the tradesman fell for this hook. He is delighted that he is a hereditary nobleman, and is in a hurry to announce this news to everyone.
