The unit was produced at the legendary Lipetsk Tractor Plant in the period 1961-1995. Nowadays, the car is no longer manufactured. For the entire time of its existence, almost 1.2 million T-40AM units rolled off the assembly line. The basic model for this tractor was the T-28.

This is made possible due to the presence of a stiffer suspension, an increased diameter of the rear wheels and "Christmas" lugs. In addition, the machine allows in case of need to adjust the track and change your own ground clearance. If necessary, the installation of rear wheels of a smaller diameter or their installation "inside out" in order to expand the track is allowed. When making minor design changes, it is possible to install double wheels. Also, the T-40AM, the front axle of which serves to significantly increase traction, easily overcomes impassability and quietly moves on moist soils during the execution of planned work.
Engine
The T-40AM tractor is equipped with a reliable mechanical-type gearbox. The unit was produced with all-wheel drive and had an engine with a capacity of 50 horsepower. Tractor-mounted motors were produced at the Vladimir Tractor Plant. The power plant was launched using an electric starter.
The engine had an air and fuel supply system, a crank mechanism, a cooling system, a distribution mechanism, a starting element and an oil circuit.
On the left side of the engine was a deflector, fuel assemblies, pipelines. On the right side there is a starter, nozzles, generator, oil centrifuge. In front, a fan and generator pulley was installed, an oil filler neck, a fan, a hydraulic pump and a meter that determines the number of hours. The fuel mode is adjusted using the throttle dial.
Forbidden actions
To ensure a long period of trouble-free operation of the T-40AM, a few simple but mandatory requirements for the user should be observed:
- You can not heavily load a motor that has just left a scheduled repair or has not gone through a full break-in cycle.
- Do not operate the unit with low oil pressure in the system.
- A long period of operation is not allowed with an overloaded engine.
- It is forbidden to turn on the motor in the absence of a casing on the fan.
- Use only recommended types of oil.
- Do not make the engine idle for a long time.
- Operation of the motor at a temperature of oil filled into the crankcase below 55 degrees is prohibited.
- The maximum permissible temperature of the engine is up to 105 degrees.

Since the T-40AM, whose price is low, has long been discontinued, sellers do not overstate its cost. To date, the market has a lot of offers for the sale of this equipment. The average price of a tractor ranges from 80 to 100 thousand Russian rubles.
Despite the fact that the car is no longer produced for more than two decades, the demand for it does not fall in our time. This is due to its perfect combination of quality, price and technical capabilities.
