Born in Zaporozhye on October 3, 1976. Denis Silantyev, whose biography is inextricably linked with sports, began swimming since 1983. He is a pupil of the Spartak-ZIGMU Sports School.
His first coach was named S. Pronyaev. Later he trained under the guidance of S. Gusev. In 2007, Denis moved to the city of Kiev and studied with Alexander and Nina Kozhuh there. Journalists nicknamed him "Mr. Butterfly" after he won the next swimming world cup.
He has several government awards: the Order of Merit of the second and third degree (1997, 2000), an honorary diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2002).
He studied at Zaporizhzhya National University, is a candidate of pedagogical sciences. Married, no children. Raises the child of his wife Inna. What is Denis Silantyev famous for? On March 24, 2009, in the Kharkov Aquarena pool, during the first stage of the Ukrainian Swimming Cup, a “farewell to water” by Denis Silantyev took place. On the big screen for the audience were shown footage of an athlete’s career, heats, awards. Then the officials uttered solemn words, and the ceremony of presenting flowers and gifts began.
Fund
Denis Silantiev in 2008 created the “Support Fund for Olympic and Youth Swimming”. Its key goal is the organization of legal, economic and social conditions for the formation of swimming skills in children and youth.
This fund has proposed the creation of a “Swimming Club for Children”. The idea of such clubs took root in Ukrainian society, and they began to be built in many cities of the country. Now there they teach seasonal swimming children for free. And in Lviv Denis Silantyev opened a stationary swimming school.
In 2012, these clubs functioned in ten Ukrainian cities. Officially, they taught swimming about nine thousand children free of charge. In addition to the development of swimming, the foundation is also involved in the H 2 O environmental project for water treatment.
In the same year, he co-authored a book entitled Swimming at School. It emphasized the importance of teaching children physical education from school. Particular emphasis was placed on the agitation of the development of swimming. According to Silantyev, swimming is one of the best sports for the development of the child in physical terms. Therefore, it is advisable to pay him more attention in physical education classes. He also authored the book Notes of a Normal Ukrainian.
Politics
In 2012, Denis became a candidate for deputy in 217 constituencies. He decided to go to the polls as an independent candidate. As he himself said, he’s not going to instantly change the swimming trunks to the deputy’s crust. And the colossal experience gained over several years of social activity should play a good role in the political career. Silantyev also told reporters that he had been engaged in public activities for so long and saw perfectly that it was unrealistic to change the situation in the country for the better.
Once he entered into a heated debate with the Ukrainian Minister of Education D. Tabachnik. The reason for this was the abolition of school grades in physical education. He believes that the authorities want to hide data on the level of physical fitness of children. Although they are obliged to sound the alarm and take the necessary actions to save the situation. Grades show the level of mastery of a student by a particular general educational subject. And in this particular case, the assessment shows the level of physical fitness of the student and his state of health.
According to the tax return filed by the candidate for deputy Denis Silantyev, in 2011 he earned about seventeen thousand hryvnias. And his family paid about one million hryvnias in repayment of a property loan. In his election program, he promised to build several pools, gyms and venues that will be accessible to all segments of the population. Unfortunately, Silantyev could not get into the Verkhovna Rada, and took fourth place among candidates in his constituency.
He managed to become a people's deputy in 2014. He passed from the Radical Party O. Lyashko to the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation .
