Common carp: photo and description, where it lives

Sazan - commercial fish, large and very valuable, is rightfully considered one of the oldest fish on the planet. Its natural habitat extends from the Amur to the southern part of China. River fish carp (in the photo) prefers to settle in the backwaters, lakes and rivers. It stays mostly in reedy waters, under bushes and trees, and lives in whirlpools and bays. He may be content with a small amount of oxygen in the water. Contaminated wastewater does not significantly harm it.

Common carp: fish description

Carp face

It has an elongated and in some cases a tall body, covered with dark gold large scales. The back of the fish has a bluish dark shade of scales, and the abdomen is mostly light. The long dorsal fin has a slight indentation. Anal fin is short. Both have a beam with notches.

Carp length and weight

Sazan fish, the photo and description of which is provided above, lives on average up to thirty years and during this time it is able to grow up to one meter in length, its weight at this size can be thirty-five or more kilograms. On average, it can weigh from three to four kilograms. This fast-growing fish is capable of growing up to ten centimeters at the end of its first year of life. Moreover, the weight of such fry is about thirty grams. But so quickly he does not always add. The peak of its mass increase occurs at the age of seven. After this, intensive growth stops, of course, fish and then grows, but very slowly.

River carp

Standard carp has an average size of about half a meter and a weight of up to six kilograms. Offspring gives a lot and quickly develops new territories. The female is able to lay almost two million small eggs during the spawning period. Of course, provided that it is a good large individual. Females become sexually mature in the fifth year of life, and males in the fourth.

How it appears and grows

The female lays eggs on warm lawns flooded with water. After about 3-6 days, tiny larvae appear from them. They freeze, holding on to the blade of grass. In such a helpless state, these larvae spend a very small amount of time - before switching to external power. At first, their diet consists of very small invertebrates - rotifers, ciliates, cyclops, etc. Only a small part of the eggs turns into large carp. The main part after the decline of water dies, drying out in the sun. Many fry do not have time to sail away, remaining to die in small pits on land.

What prevails in the diet of carp

Carp is not at all picky about food. Fry use all kinds of plankton, benthos for food. The grown common carp begins to eat everything that occurs on its way: young, tender shoots of plants growing in water bodies, small and medium insects and their larvae, mollusks and various crustaceans. It does not disdain young fish similar to itself.

How to multiply and grow

Carp is playing

The sexually mature carp is spawning in May or June, depending on the temperature of the water. The most comfortable temperature for its reproduction is twenty degrees. At fifteen degrees Celsius, before opening the spawning eggs, carp fish experiences an intense period of the so-called "zhora". This phenomenon can often proceed completely imperceptibly, and the fish can survive until the spawning period by almost starvation.

Behavior depending on water temperature and season

This type of fish simply adores a warm environment, therefore, the closer to the southern latitudes, the larger and more fun carp. With the onset of the autumn-winter period, its jambs find areas deeper and fall into hibernation there. At the end of winter, carp fish does not look the best way, since it spends almost all its sleep during hunger. By spring, the mass is very much reduced due to such a diet.

Common carp in ponds - this is carp

Carp is the so-called "domesticated" fish. It was brought out many centuries ago in China. Carp differs from common carp by habits, habitat and appearance. This is a bone fish with golden green scales; it prefers ponds and enclosed bodies of water with many algae and grass.

Now the carps grown in private reservoirs are again gaining popularity. Everyone can buy a living carp for their own purposes, the age and size that is required.

Features of the carp family

Lots of carp

The carp live in large packs of families. In every such pack, there is always an old and strong, intelligent leader. This head of the family is obliged to monitor everything related to the safety of his pack. Sensing a threat, he is immediately able to make certain sounds that his entire flock will hear and be warned, which means that most of the fish will be safe. The sound produced in such situations resembles the crack of branches. A photo of the common carp living in the pond is provided below.

Fishing catch

Lake carp

A few days after the end of the spawning, carp fishing begins. To catch a lot of this fish, you need to look at the thermometer. When the air temperature reaches +20 ° C, fishing can begin. You can catch even more carp on hot days when the thermometer rises to + 25 ... + 29 ° . In the first autumn months, the nibble attenuates, as the temperature invariably drops and cooling begins.

Any experienced fisherman knows how to calculate the parking of this fish in a pond. His flocks easily give themselves out as characteristic only for him, champing and splashing water in the reed thickets and backwaters, overgrown with herbs. In the morning silence, in addition to the slaps on the water created by the playing fish, one can also see how the common carp suddenly “jumps out” of the pond high up. At this interesting moment, the fish is able in a split second to look around the surroundings and see, or even hear the danger. In the rivers, it is worth looking for it near the channel and under steep banks, a weak flow of water flows and a bottom with a predominance of silt also attract this species of fish.

For a better bite, this fish should be tinned with ground meat or various meal. Sazan uses his sense of smell and touch to search for food, and his eyes help him in this. The taste buds are very developed, so the gourmet, capturing some kind of food, first enjoys its taste and tries not to swallow. If something went wrong during the "relishing", he spits out food with lightning speed. It is worth keeping this in mind when feeding it for fishing. He hears well too, and if the surroundings are somehow atypically noisy for the place where he is, the clever carp will immediately leave it or go to the bottom.

Only a very persistent fisherman with excellent endurance can catch a carp on a fishing rod. The ideal time for catching this fish is morning, well caught at dusk. By the way, during the day, there is also the opportunity to fish out the common carp, only the day for this should be cloudy and quiet. While catching this cunning freshwater inhabitant, the fisherman should practically merge with the surrounding bushes, shores and trees. In addition, he must also be very quiet, so as not to arouse suspicion in the fish and not to spoil completely all fishing.

Evening fishing

Common carp

At the moment when the darkness falls on the pond, the common carp loses its vigilance and can capture the bait without precautions. Only now it’s difficult to wait for this enchanting moment. Sometimes, if the fisherman is not very calm and restless, he, having spent a lot of time in one place and making sure that the fish is not biting, changes his place of deployment, and this is a big mistake. After all, the carp fish had just begun to lose caution and was ready to go for the bait. Changing the place, the fisherman makes confusion in the ranks of Sazan and he again begins to get nervous and look at the surroundings. Small air bubbles that pop up from the bottom of a muddy pond are a sign that carp will peck here. A chain of such bubbles rising from the bottom can show in which direction the school of this fish is moving.
