Amelia Marco - professional Italian goalkeeper

Amelia Marko is a soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Chelsea Football Club. Former player of AC Milan and Italy.

The athlete was born on April 2, 1982 in Rome, where he made his first steps in football, but spent most of his career in Livorno, where he played 181 matches in all competitions and even scored a goal in the 2006–07 UEFA Cup.

Marco won bronze at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens (Greece), as part of the Italian youth team under the age of 21, played 9 matches for the Italian national team, which won the 2006 World Cup held in Germany, and was also in Application for Euro 2008 (Austria-Switzerland).

Early career

Amelia Marco was born in Frascati, province of Rome, and played for teams of different ages of the Roma youth system. In 2001, he left the capital's club and joined the team of the C1 series Livorno on loan. The following season, the player was redeemed for 2.8 million euros in a deal under which the club also acquired half the rights to Giorgio Chiellini for 3.1 million euros, as a result of which the club entered Serie B.

Then Amelia spent two unremarkable seasons in Lecce and Parma (both clubs played in Serie A) before returning to Livorno and becoming one of the leaders of the Italian modest club. Here Marco made his European debut in the 2006-07 season in the UEFA Cup, in which he even managed to hit the opponent’s goal. This happened in the match with the Serbian “Partizan”, when the player hit the ball right into the net.

In July 2008, after Livorno flew to Serie B, Amelia Marco decided to change his residence permit and joined Palermo for 6 million euros. In the new season, the goalkeeper did not remember anything outstanding, except for Ronaldinho's reflected penalty in the match against Milan, which ended with the score 3-1, and the conceded goal from Giuseppe Mascara in the Sicilian derby with Catania, which ended in a shocking defeat 0-4.

Genoa and the move to Milan

In August 2009, Amelia moved to Genoa as part of an exchange for Rubinho, with both players valued at 5 million euros. Amelia was the first number on the team, with the exception of a few matches played by Alessio Scarpi.

After the sale of goalkeeper Marco Storari to Juventus on June 23, 2010, Marco signed a contract with Milan. Amelia joined the team on a leasehold basis with foreclosure rights. On May 24, 2011, Milan bought the player for 3.5 million euros and signed a contract with him for three years, despite the fact that Amelia played only a few matches and was the substitute for Abbyati.

As the first number, Amelia Marko could not gain a foothold in AC Milan, played a total of less than 30 matches in 4 seasons, and in 2014 the club did not renew his contract.

Way to Chelsea

Amelia became a free agent on July 1, 2014. He played several matches for amateurs from the Rio Priora (where he acted as a player and was also honorary president) before returning to professional football on February 9, 2015 to play for the Perugia Series B club.

On August 23, Amelia became the honorary president and player of her first youth club, Loupe Castelli Romani. He played for the team twice in the Italian Cup.

On October 8, he moved to England, signing a contract with a foreign club for the first time. This club was Chelsea, where Amelia Marco moved to the end of the season as a free agent. The role of the football player in the club is clearly defined - a change for Yasmine Begovic, who became the main due to the injury of Thibaut Courtois.

Personal life

Amelia is currently married to Charlotte Bosello, with whom she is raising two children: her son Giulio Cesare was born on September 28, 2009, and her daughter Matilda was born on February 19, 2013.

In addition, the player is a gentleman and officer of the Order of Merit for the Italian Republic, received for the bronze of the 2004 Olympic Games and the gold of the 2006 World Cup, respectively.
