Hanoi
Hanoi, recently celebrated its millennium, is the capital of Vietnam. It is a city with a rich history and exceptional culture. The strength and power of the city is reminded of the Konoa fortress of the 3rd century AD, located in the suburbs of the capital. In the 9th century, the territory of present-day Hanoi, freed from the Chinese, was called Dalai. Then the city changed its name several times, which is connected either with the appearance of the dragon or with the occupation of the country by China. The final name for the city was given by Ming Mang, the emperor who ruled in the 18th century. Hanoi means "surrounded by rivers." With the semicentennial French colonization of Vietnam, the role of Hanoi as the capital of Vietnam was established.
Now Hanoi is a multi-million city, the main population of which lives in the "new" Hanoi. The old city is used for receiving tourists and conducting excursions.
