Tyumen Square

The network of streets and avenues, even the most beautiful and famous, has well-defined functions in the urban infrastructure. Majestic or fussy, crowded or dormant, they are necessary for the city, like blood vessels to a living organism. The square is a significant place where people gather together for some solemn or memorable occasion. Area is a bunch of their energy.

There are many squares in modern Tyumen, they are very different due to the reason and time of appearance, according to their current purpose and architectural design.

Unity and Concord Square

Today, Tyumen is increasingly getting into the top positions of economic, tourist and other ratings. And she began her story in the XVI century with the construction of the Tyumen prison. Where taiga was once felled to fulfill the order of Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich (the last Rurikovich), today is the city center.

For a long time, this Tyumen square , located near the prison, was just an unnamed site. The name "Unity and Concord" she received in 2003. The trading traditions that she was famous for earlier are supported by the nearby Central Department Store. Square, cafes and restaurants invite everyone to relax.

But the highlight of the square is the most beautiful fountain of the city with four figures of girls named after the seasons. In the evenings, they include light music: both the girls and the jets of take-off water are simply magnificent. City holidays are held here.

Historical square

This place on the bank of the Tura River, not far from the built prison, was chosen for settlement by the first Tyumen, a stone laid here reminds of this. This Tyumen square changed its appearance many times until it took on its present appearance. Young people are attracted to the nearby Lovers Bridge. But the main monument here is a monument dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, whose eternal flame reminds of the dead.

A well-groomed square adorns the square at any time of the year, and from the high bank the Zarechensky part of the city and two rivers, the Tura and Tyumenka, flowing into it are clearly visible.

Memory Square

She continues the theme of war. A soldier’s alley leads to the memorial, at the foot - the burial place of soldiers who died in the hospitals of the city. And many plates with the names of the Tyumen who did not return from the front.

The memorial is unusually beautiful. High in the sky, a white stone candle flies up, set to all the dead, through whom the city mourns.

Square Fighters of the revolution

The square of the Revolution in Tyumen got its name in the late fifties of the last century due to the mass grave of the Red Army soldiers who fell in the struggle for Soviet power in the region. On their grave there is a monument designed by E. A. Gerasimov - under the banner of the figure of a peasant and a worker.

Earlier, the square was called Alexandrovskaya in honor of Tsarevich Alexander Nikolaevich who was passing here in 1837.

And before that, she was a Police officer, since the two-story brick house that stood here belonged to the local gendarmerie.

In 2009, an extraordinary monument to the Sun was erected, with the planets of the system made in proportional proportions to the actual ones. And the planets are located in the strict order of distance from the Sun. The spectacle of a bright, brilliant globe of the Sun with planets is bewitching.

central square

Previously, there was the outskirts of the city. As it grew in the mid-19th century, the administration decided to transfer trade here from the city markets, and to establish one large area in Tyumen for the sale of goods. It was then called Bazaar, Bread, Trading. Travelers passing here recalled in their notes "impassable, black dirt and beautiful cheap handmade rugs."

The square was chosen by merchants and petty bourgeois who began to build their houses around, greatly reducing its size. And just before the revolution, a water tower was installed here, which still stands in its place.

With the outbreak of war, the glider factory evacuated from Moscow and the design bureau of O.K. Antonov were housed here.

retail space in Tyumen

In the post-war years , the construction of administrative city buildings began on the Tyumen Trade Square , which was no longer located on the outskirts. As they grew, trade was closed here, and the area became Central.

In its middle stands a monument to Lenin, near the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Directorate - a monument to the dead police officers. Around are the buildings of the administration of the Tyumen Region, the Tyumen Regional Duma, the Oil and Gas University.

This is not all areas of the city. To walk along its well-groomed streets and squares, you need a lot of time and effort. But it's worth it.
