Historical reference

The Ural Instrument-Making Plant (UPZ) is at the origins of such a scientific and technical direction as precision mechanics. Initially, the enterprise was founded in Moscow (1785) by S.S. Tryndin. This was the first Russian specialized optical workshop where astrophysical, geodesic, and medical devices were manufactured.

After the revolution, the plant was nationalized and received the name Metron. In 1936, for the first time in the USSR, the production of mechanical horizon for aviation was mastered within its walls. In 1941, production was evacuated to Sverdlovsk. So the Ural Instrument-Making Plant was born. During the war, UPZ was the main supplier of gyroscopic equipment and on-board instruments.

After the Second World War, the enterprise continued to produce sophisticated aircraft devices. Almost all domestic aerobatic systems include gyro-verticals and other instruments of the Ural plant. Over time, the mechanical equipment was supplemented by electronic components. In parallel, the medical direction developed.

Description

Today, the strategic enterprise Ural Instrument-Making Plant offers military consumers a wide range of instruments for combat aircraft. There are products for the new generation training aircraft and the light attack aircraft Yak-130, which are also being put into service, but the honored Su-25 attack aircraft is not forgotten. For the program of its modernization, a color multifunctional indicator of the dashboard is released, which, among other improvements, gave the well-deserved car a new level of combat capabilities.

For civil medicine, the Ural Instrument-Making Plant produces the first resuscitation complex of Russian manufacture of the highest class β€œAventa”. Recently, medical facilities received its latest version of Aventa-M with improved autonomy.

Production

The Ural Instrument - Making Plant (Yekaterinburg) carries out the following activities:

  • Development and production of scientific and industrial products (including for mechanical engineering), medical and other equipment, aircraft devices and products.
  • Production of consumer goods: household appliances and appliances, electrical goods, household goods, electronic equipment.
  • Research and development work.
  • Repair, domestic and after-sales service, including restoration by laser welding of products containing precious metals.
  • Production of medical devices.

Currently, the production capacities of UPZ are loaded at 85-90%. The administration plans to increase the load of design capacities due to the launch of new types of medical products in demand on the market, and the development of serial production of new products for aviation.

Modernization

The enterprise is an executor of work under the state defense order, whose share in the volume of production exceeds 20%. The plant is involved in the production of aviation units for Russia's first "digital" aircraft Yak-130. It also has unique manufacturing technologies for beryllium bronze bellows and products based on them for aviation and rocket and space technology.

As part of the conversion, the production of medical equipment has been mastered. In recent years, UPZ OJSC has become one of the largest manufacturers of ventilators and ultrasound devices in Russia.

All these tasks require regular updating of technologies and equipment. In recent years, a number of important technological re-equipment activities have been carried out. For instance:

  • A galvanic coating workshop is being built.
  • A complex of local treatment facilities is being built.
  • The AIVL of the new generation of the Aventa series is being developed and improved.
  • Development of the gyrometer K-130.01.

By 2012, most of the production, a number of technical services departments and production warehouses were moved to another site. To reduce costs, technical processes, programs have been developed and part processing has been implemented on high-performance equipment. Designed, manufactured equipment and introduced the manufacture of parts from plastics, aluminum alloys. UPZ plans to continue to carry out horizontal development of its activities, expanding the product line taking into account market demand, as well as the latest innovative achievements in this industry.
