One of the promising Armenian strikers, Gevorg Ghazaryan, is now joining the Portuguese club Maritimo. During his career, he has visited many championships in different countries and, having gained experience, continues to successfully help his team to show good results.
Armenian beginning
Gevorg Ghazaryan made his first professional steps in football as part of the Armenian Pyunik club, the youth of which the forward played for the first season. The progress of the 17-year-old striker was noticed by the coaching staff, and already in July 2005 the player made his debut in the Armenian championship, but could not convince the club's mentor and continued to play for the second Pyunik team. In 2006, when he replaced the match against Chirac, Gevorg Ghazaryan scored his first goal as part of the club’s base, which coincided with the player’s first take.
The next season, the striker was waiting for a six-month lease at Banants in search of playing practice, where in the first match he became the author of a hat-trick. The player’s high performance did not go unnoticed, and he was invited to the national team, where the player entered the field in the qualifying match of the 2008 European Championship against Portugal, which ended in a draw - 1: 1. Gevorg Ghazaryan continued to play for Pyunik until 2011. As part of this club, he became the 5-time champion of Armenia, and also won several times in the Cup and Super Cup of the country. In the winter of 2011, the striker took part in the gathering of the Krasnodar “Kuban”, but did not fit the Russian club, and in the summer of that year he signed a contract with Donetsk “Metallurg”.
Failure in Ukraine
The striker came to Ukraine as a married man, but in the new club Gevorg Ghazaryan, whose wife Victoria was not very good at football, he said, could not prove herself at a high level. After playing in 70 meetings with the Donetsk team, with an asset of 9 goals and 4 assists, in the summer of 2013 the striker went on loan to Shakhtar in Karaganda, where he played for six months, after which, after 6 months of the contract with the Ukrainian club, he transferred to the Greek Olympiacos.
Relocation to Portugal
As part of the famous Greek team, Ghazaryan was practically unable to play - for half a year in “Olympiakos” the forward took part in 7 meetings, twice distinguishing himself in an assist. In January 2015, the Armenian striker made another attempt to play in the Greek championship, moving to “Kerkyra”, but after all the same 6 months he left for Portugal, signing a contract with “Maritim”. In the new club, Gevorg proved himself very mature, but a series of injuries during the two seasons did not allow him to show maximum zeal. For 44 meetings in the “lions”, the striker scored only 10 scoring points, equally dividing the goals and assists.
