By registering on various sites and on social networks, many users do not try to remember their password and login to the required page, as browsers have a wonderful feature called "Remember Me". So, after the first visit to the site using the username and password, the browser asks "Save password?" (or the user sets a checkmark opposite the line "Remember me").
From now on, access to the site is carried out without entering any registration data. For example, when restoring access to Mail.ru, you can use a secret question (if it was specified during registration) or use a different mailbox (if it was specified as additional during registration).
