Linguistics text. Communication related components

The linguistics of the text in the modern interpretation represents the relevance of certain semantic categories of the text and those internal laws of construction that ensure its coherence.

This approach to characterizing the text as a linguistic figure is not the only one.

Descriptive linguistics, the peak of relevance of which occurred in the 1920s and 1950s (the founder was L. Bloomfield), first of all, paid attention to the asemantic approach to the text. In this tradition, the text was considered as a set of semantic units without revealing clear semantic links between them. More attention was paid to structural design. Hence another name for descriptive linguistics - structuralism.

text linguistics

The linguistics of the text, considered in terms of relevant relationships, distinguishes such components of the text as repetitions in a special series. They can be lexical, grammatical, intonational, stylistic, etc.

Note: sometimes a repetition in the text is considered a stylistic flaw. It should be noted that this is not always the case. In a speech, for example, of a scientific and journalistic nature, repetition can act as the main semantic core of general reasoning.

A lexical repetition is a repetition of the same word, or of cognate words. The repeat function may be different:

1. Designation of a large number of items:

- Behind those villages are forests, forests, forests (Melnikov-Pechersky).

- On the platform around the crowd crowded, people.

2. Quality characteristic:

- But the most unexpected in the design were the blue-blue walls.

- In the darkness, the smoke coming from the chimney seemed white and white.

3. Giving emotional coloring to action:

- Winter, which was extremely wet this year, did not end and did not end.

The definition of "linguistics" is not limited to an absolutely linguistic category, but such a concept as linguistics of a text represents broad communicative connections with philosophy, logic, and such subsections as sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, artificial intelligence, etc.

In order for the text to be understood by the reader or listener, the psycho-emotional connection, expressed verbally, is important.

descriptive linguistics

"Not every offer can be excellent, but every one must be good." The phrase belongs to the modern American writer Michael Cunningham. Paying great attention to the style of the text, he wrote: โ€œKnowing how much effort and inspiration it takes to write a book, I can forgive the author a lot if each line is good and in its place, and the book is written in a fresh, bewitching language, even with all that the author used the same words that American writers used a hundred years ago. โ€

It is, first of all, about the expression of the sentence, expressed in the semantic connection of its components in terms of their psycho-emotional impact on the reader.

M. Sarton wrote in Solitude magazine: โ€œClean up the house, create peace and order around you if you cannot create it inside yourself. Involving the reader in your personal world, advising how to break out of the inner captivity of doubt, reflection, confused feelings, experiencing yourself , the author makes you empathize with him. This can be expressed in a short phrase: create order around if you can not create it inside.

Cohesion (cohesion of the text) is only one of the many categories that the linguistics of the text operates on. In turn, each category is associated with certain terms: speech, text, sentence, etc. It should be noted that, due to its specificity, the terminology of text linguistics is still in its formation and development.
