Forward “Ak Bars” Anton Glinkin: career history

One of the legendary players of the Chelyabinsk Tractor, Anton Glinkin, changed his team in 2016. The new club for the striker was Kazan “Ak Bars”, with which the hockey player expects to achieve new heights in his career.

The beginning in the youth of Chelyabinsk

Glinkin Anton Vladimirovich was born on October 28, 1988 in Chelyabinsk. As a child, he loved the game of hockey, and his parents enrolled him in the sports school of the local "Tractor". In an effort to break through the course of his career into the main club, playing in the Russian Super League, the young striker showed an excellent game in attack, hitting the coaches with his performance. As a result, even at the age of 15, Glinkin was invited to speak for the second composition of the "tractor drivers".

Two years in the First League - the current Youth Hockey League - passed for the player quite fruitfully, and although he did not go to the ice in every meeting, in 2006 the striker moved to the league a level higher. Once in the local “Mechel”, who played in the Premier League - the second division of Russia, Anton Glinkin immediately won a place at the base. The result of regular appearance on the ice was the high performance of the young hockey player - only in his first season he managed to conquer the mark of 23 points. This success made Tractor's coaching staff draw attention to the player, and Glinkin was announced for the main team in the 2007/08 championship.

Start in the KHL

The first season in the Super League, soon renamed the Continental Hockey League, did not become a major breakthrough for the Russian. For “Tractor”, Glinkin Anton spent only 11 matches, noting one effective pass, and most of the time he spent again in “Mechel”. However, in 2009, the striker finally got into the main clip of the Chelyabinsk club and throughout the season contributed to the confident performance of the team. For 59 matches held Glinkin reached the mark of 20 points.

2010 also passed for the player, as well as for the team, fruitfully, but not very successfully - “Tractor” took 4th place in Kharlamov’s division, and in the playoffs Chelyabinsk took off in the first round - Anton Glinkin’s goal against Magnitogorsk’s goal " Metallurg ”, which was the first for a player in the Cup, did not save the team from defeat with a final score of 1: 3. A year later, the striker’s high performance went unnoticed against the backdrop of the club’s disastrous performance, but it laid the foundation for a successful performance and the first Tractor medals in the history of the KHL.

First steps to fame

The 2011/12 season did not start very well for Tractor - the team hardly got points in the championship, however, thanks to Glinkin’s productive performance, the club’s affairs soon improved. As a result, Chelyabinsk residents won an early victory in their division, ahead of the nearest pursuer, Magnitogorsk “Metallurg”, by 20 points. In the playoffs, the team managed to easily go through the first two stages, beating Ugra and Ak Bars, but in the final of the Eastern Conference, Avangard turned out to be stronger on the way of Tractor. As a result, “tractor drivers”, including Anton Glinkin, who scored 24 points per season, became the owners of “bronze”, as well as the winners of the Continent Cup, showing the best result in the KHL.

A year later, “Tractor” managed to once again be on the podium - taking second place in the division, Chelyabinsk made it to the playoffs, where they confidently dealt with their last-year offender - “Vanguard”, reaching the final of the Gagarin Cup. In the fight for the trophy, “tractor drivers” lost to the capital “Dynamo” in a bitter struggle - Anton Glinkin in this confrontation became the author of an assist, which became an assists in the third match of the series.

After a resounding success, Anton Glinkin became one of the key players in the team, subsequently in two consecutive seasons showing a result of over 30 points as part of the regular championship. However, after the 2015/16 championship, the joint history of Tractor and the Russian striker ended.
