After the collapse of the Soviet Union, “Derbent sparkling wine factory”, as well as for most state-owned enterprises, faced hard times. Production facilities were almost completely stopped. A new life for the plant began only in 2006, immediately after its transfer to private ownership.

It is here that the best “Derbent” champagne of the republic is carefully stored. Today, the company produces 200 thousand bottles of wine and champagne per day.

Vineyards and Wine Production

Until 2009, the enterprise did not have its own vineyards. All wine materials necessary for the production were purchased abroad. In the same year, the plant leased 1,000 hectares of land. They planted seedlings of grape varieties Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Aligoté, Augustine, Riesling and others. After 3 years, an additional 300 hectares were leased. For irrigation of vineyards, a drip irrigation system is used .
