An American heavyweight was born in the state of Maryland, in the city of Silver Spring, on October 18, 1971. According to the style of warfare, he is left-handed and has an impressive growth of 196 centimeters. Currently occupies the 24th position in the world ranking of professional boxers. Tony Thompson got the nickname "Tiger".
Career
The American began his high-level speeches on January 27, 2000. The debut was successful, a victory was won on points. In the second duel with Tony Thompson, a non-defeated opponent met, who was defeated by a judicial decision. After subsequently conducting two more victorious fights for himself, the American entered the battle against a promising boxer named Eric Kirkland, whom he lost.
Qualifying fight
In the summer of 2007, the Tiger fought with the German Krasnichi. The match took place as part of the selection of an opponent for the then-reigning world champion Vladimir Klitschko. The American was able in the fifth round to earn a victory by TKO and thus received the right to fight for the world title.
Champion standoff
In 2008, the legendary Klitschko boxed with Tony Thompson. Victory in that battle would allow our hero to take possession of two belts at once - IBF and WBO.
The first three minutes passed without any active actions, both athletes conducted it in intelligence. However, starting from the second round, the Ukrainian began to build up his advantage, which eventually turned into a knockout for the American in the eleventh round. In fairness, it is worth noting that the fight did not turn out to be easy for Klitschko.
Another attempt
All boxing confrontations are primarily vivid fights. Tony Thompson has always fought spectacularly and interestingly for the public. His second meeting with Vladimir was no exception.
As in the first match, the fighters did not force the events at first and carefully exchanged blows. Further, the battle fell completely under the control of the Ukrainian, which eventually resulted in a knockdown for Tony in the fifth round. And already in the next round, the American was knocked out, although he was conscious, but could not continue to fight.
Today
In 2016, the Tiger held two fights in which it was defeated both times. But if Malik Scott Thompson lost on points, and having managed to send him to the knockdown during the fight, then Tony lost to champion Louis Orits by knockout in the sixth round.
