Portuguese defender Bruno Alves

Bruno Alves is a Portuguese defender playing for the Italian Cagliari. His career is nearing completion, as this year he will be 35 years old, which is a lot for a field player. Bruno Alves plays the position of central defender.

Carier start

Bruno Alves was born on November 27, 1981 in Portugal, his mother is Portuguese, and his father is Brazilian. At age 11, Bruno enrolled in the football academy of the Varzim club, where he spent most of his junior career. Only when he was almost eighteen years old did Alves change his club registration, finding himself at the academy of the largest Portuguese club Porto. There he spent only one season, and in 2000 he was already called up for a double, for which he played a year and a half. Then the club management noticed that Brunu Alves is a talented defender. But in the main team of “Port” there was no place for an inexperienced young man, so it was decided to let him gain gaming experience on loan.

Rent

Bruno Alves is a football player who has been traveling for rent for quite some time at the beginning of his career. In the winter of 2002, he was sent for a year and a half to Fahrens. In the second half of the season 01/02, he entered the field 15 times, having failed to help the team avoid a flight to the Second Division. Here the second season the defender played 33 matches, scoring three goals, which impressed the fans, but not the club management, who wanted to see him at a higher level. Therefore, in the summer of 2003, Bruno went on a regular lease - this time to Vitoria, which would be guaranteed to spend the whole season in the Top Division. There, Alves played 27 matches, scored one goal - but still did not find a place at the base of Porto. And in the summer of 2004, he went on a lease for another year - this time abroad, to the Greek AEK, for which he also spent 27 matches. And only in 2005, the 24-year-old defender was trusted enough to admit him to the Porto base - and did not regret it.

The game for Porto

In the first season, Bruno Alves steadily polished the bench, having entered the field only 11 times. But already in the next season he won a place at the base - and for four years he was one of the key players in the club's defensive line. Altogether Bruno Alves won 171 matches for Porto, scoring 17 goals. During this time, he became the champion of Portugal four times, won the Portuguese Cup three times, collecting an impressive number of trophies before being sold for a serious amount to St. Petersburg Zenit.

Going to Zenit

In the summer of 2010, Zenit paid 22 million euros to get at its disposal a Portuguese defender. When Alves came to the club, the Russian season was already ending, and he appeared on the field in only 25 matches. But even then, he managed to win the Russian championship right there. The following season, he entered the field 45 times, being one of the main creators of success - the St. Petersburg club for the second time in a row became the champion of Russia. In the third season, Alves became much less likely to enter the field and played only 30 matches, which did not suit him. Therefore, in the summer of 2013, he moved to the Turkish Fenerbahçe for five and a half million euros.

Moving to Turkey and then to Italy

He entered the field 101 times, scoring four goals, and in 2014 won the Turkish championship with the club. But in 2016, his contract expired, and the defender did not renew it. Where is Bruno Alves playing now? Even before the contract expired, he agreed to sign a two-year contract with the Italian Cagliari, for which he had already played 9 matches this season, scoring one goal.
