Shop Children's World in Chelyabinsk: the history of creation

Lenin Avenue in the city of Chelyabinsk is the main and longest street. Usually, starting to describe it, the authors of the articles break it into three parts, in accordance with the three eras of its creation.

In the area of era No. 2, house number 46 is located. In this building is the Detsky Mir children's goods store in Chelyabinsk. But do not confuse it with a large federal network. This store is exclusively local.

The beginning of glorious deeds

In 1936, the architect B.N. Egorov designed the house on Spartak Street, as the eastern part of Lenin Avenue was once called. Initially, the building was intended for trade in various consumer goods. Finishing work has been carried out since 1939, and the opening was planned in the summer of 1941.

During the war years, the building was the People’s Commissariat for Tank Industry, technical personnel training courses for engineering and motor plants and research centers evacuated to Chelyabinsk. The Mechanical Engineering Institute, with which the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute (later South Ural State University) began, was located here.

The first post-war years

After the war, until 1949, the building of the current "Children's World" in Chelyabinsk housed the administrative services of Soviet trade.

And only in 1949, the Chelyabinsk regional department store (branch No. 1) finally opened in the building on Lenin Avenue 46. Here you could buy household items, goods for men and women. On three floors of the building housed a large number of different sections.

The beginning of a child’s life

And on July 1, 1966, the store was redesigned into a specialized department store for goods for children. "Children's World" of Chelyabinsk held various competitions for its customers: "Young Architect", "Funny Traffic Light", "Sun Bunnies", etc. According to the recollections of the residents of the city, there was also a living corner in the store. And the little one from all over the city came here with her parents to watch a live squirrel.

"Child's world"

In Soviet times, Detsky Mir in Chelyabinsk, on Lenin Avenue, 46 was one of the three best stores for children in the USSR. And in 2000 it was considered one of the top ten, although the competitiveness of many department stores in the country became much higher. Over the 30 years of the existence of the specialized supermarket, more than 30 employees have been awarded government awards and distinctions.

...to the present day

In the period 1966-1990, the building of the "Children's World" in Chelyabinsk was overgrown with additional extensions in the form of cafes, toilet rooms, an elevator was put into operation, as it was difficult for elderly people and children to climb the spans of the building.

There is plenty to see and choose from here. On three floors there are goods for newborns, games and toys, clothes and shoes for children of all ages, goods for sports and outdoor activities, everything for children's creativity, carnival costumes, stationery, children's cosmetics and accessories.

The store is located in the city center, this was reflected in the difficulties with parking their own cars. But in front of the building, a public transport stop is 20 meters away, which significantly increases the chances of buying a large number of gifts for kids.
