Typical installation of Windows XP

By purchasing a laptop, with it you get the already installed operating system Windows Vista or Windows 7. Of course, this system is good for everyone - a beautiful interface, many interesting applications, games, but many users need a more suitable version of the operating system to work, so installing Windows XP is the system that is best suited for this purpose. In order not to demolish the existing operating system, the second can be installed in parallel.

Consider a simple installation of the operating system. If this operation is performed for the first time, you do not need to activate it until you are sure that all stationary equipment is working properly. That is, there is a complete compatibility of devices. If something does not work correctly, or with distortions, then re-activation is required. Devices such as a printer or scanner do not.

In order not to sit in front of the computer for an hour or more while installing Windows XP, you can create an answer file. All questions that will arise during the installation process will be received by the system from this file, and without your participation. This file can be created using the Setupmgr program. We look for the file support \ tools \ deploy.cab on the boot disk, then extract setupmgr.exe from it. This utility is a regular setup wizard. There are enough such programs in Windows. Having answered all the questions posed, the same as when installing the system, you can no longer observe the installation process. It will pass from beginning to end without your participation. Answers to questions will take 5-10 minutes.

If you want to monitor the process, then we will install Windows ourselves. First of all, turn on the computer, insert the boot disk into the CD-ROM and press F2. This is necessary in order to enter the BIOS and make the necessary settings. Typically, a new computer comes with instructions for installing Windows, which describes the installation process.

We put a tick in front of the option "boot from CD-ROM". This is necessary so that when you turn on the computer, the boot disk immediately opens . The contents of the disc appeared on the screen. Click the button to install Windows XP. The system starts collecting information, then copies the files from the boot disk to the hard drive. As soon as the first reboot has gone, click on F2, go back into the BIOS and return the checkmark to its place. We reboot the system again. Now the installation of the operating system from your hard drive will begin.

When installing Windows, you need to carefully read the text that appears in front of you, and not press the buttons. When the system asks which partition to install Windows, specify drive C. Typically, this partition is used by default. Leave the file system the same or format the disk, you decide. If you plan to install Windows XP from scratch, then click the "format" button. In this case, all the information on disk C is deleted. If you want to leave the old file system, then click on the corresponding button. That is, it turns out that the new OS will lie on top of the old one, but fix the damaged ones, or add deleted files. And the information will remain intact. Often an error occurs when installing Windows, when applying a new file system to an old system. Windows pop up on the screen indicating that it is impossible to install a particular file. In this case, the system must be formatted, otherwise after installing it, many programs will not work correctly, or even will not start at all.

We reboot the computer and observe how Windows is installed. In the course of installation, fill in the necessary details. Within an hour or a little more, the operating system will be installed. Next, install the drivers located on the additional disk. Their installation is not difficult. After each installed driver, we reboot the system to activate.
