With grass growing under the trees and along the fences, summer residents are fighting a merciless. After all, if you do not mow it on time, it will give seeds that will scatter throughout the garden. However, not everyone knows that it is possible to make excellent fertilizer from grass, useful for plants and, unlike chemical preparations, absolutely harmless to human health. You can do it in two ways, each of which is not particularly difficult.
Liquid fertilizer from grass is made by soaking it in water. Previously, the mixture should ferment. To do this, the grass is crushed and laid in a plastic or
wooden barrel in such a way as to fill it by a third. Then add water to the container, close it with a lid, tie it with polyethylene and leave to ferment for about a week. For greater effect, you can add a little manure to the mixture. It is best if the barrel is standing in a sunny place. In this case, the fermentation process will be much faster. In addition, it is worth installing a barrel away from places of rest, a playground, a gazebo, etc. The fact is that during fermentation the mixture gives off an extremely unpleasant odor.
The preparing fertilizer from the grass needs to be thoroughly mixed daily. The fermented mixture begins to foam, acquires a marsh hue and a characteristic smell. A similar type of slurry indicates that it is ready for use. In order to make dressing from it, it is bred with water in a proportion of 1 * 10. A steeper solution can burn the roots of plants. Before using fertilizer, beds should be abundantly watered. About 1–3 liters of the received top dressing should fall on one plant depending on its age.
Fertilizer from mowed grass can be obtained in another way - composting. To do this, dig a trench on the site. At its bottom lay a layer of sod land. Then a layer of dried grass, then - manure, fallen leaves and food waste. Thus, in the finished mixture should be present about 60% of the green mass, 20% of the earth and ten percent of manure and waste. In order for the compost preparation process to go more intensively,
earthworms are launched into a bunch
. It will be possible to use fertilizer in a year and a half. To prevent it from souring, it is necessary to mix it with a pitchfork from time to time.
Ready fertilizer from the grass in the spring is laid in the beds, after having previously removed the soil layer worked out during the season. By energy value, such a mixture can be compared with chernozem. Plants fed in this way will feel just fine and yield the appropriate crop.
The trenches remaining after compost preparation, by the way, can be used for germinating potatoes. Tubers are laid on the bottom in one layer and covered with a non-woven material. You need to do this a month before planting potatoes.
Thus, grass fertilizer can be used both in liquid and in dry form. In both cases, the result will not be long in coming. Plants will look much stronger. And strong cultures are much less likely to be affected by various kinds of diseases. Therefore, the crop can be obtained much higher. So it’s completely impractical to burn grass.
Now you know how to make fertilizer from grass. It is not difficult to do this at all, and the result will be simply magnificent. Of course, as in everything, when applying such top dressing, you need to try not to overdo it. For example, too frequent use of liquid fertilizer can lead to violent growth of tops, which is undesirable for some crops.
