Roman Sharonov is a former Russian footballer who is best known for playing in Kazan Rubin and the Russian national team. He currently works as Deputy General Director at the Rubin Club.

Club career
Roman Sharonov is a pupil of the Lokomotiv youth school (Moscow). From 1993 to 1997, he was listed in the team of "railroad", speaking in the backup team. For four years, Roman never managed to break into the main team, or play at least one official match. Not seeing a further perspective for himself here, he went to China.
The Chinese epic was a gamble for the player. Having won 1 match for the club “Fuabei” (representative of the second league championship of China), Sharonov returned home. The next year and a half he played for the Krasnoyarsk team Metallurg. This ordinary club played in the second Russian division. But, having strengthened the back line with a solid defender, the team sharply went up. The very next season, Metallurg represented the FNL league. To this success of the club, to a large extent, Sharon also “put his foot” on it.
Roman, having played the first half of the 1999 season for the Krasnoyarsk club, concludes a contract with the Rubin team, which at that time was in the first division of the Russian championship. In 2002, the Kazan club became the winner of the first division, getting the opportunity to debut in the league of the strongest teams of the Russian championship.
Roman Sharonov played his first duel in the Premier League only on March 16, 2003. Soon he was noted and his first goal scored. His debut goal took place on June 11, in a meeting with Moscow Lokomotiv. The meeting ended in a draw. The irony was that just one point was not enough for the “railroad” to get ahead of the “Ruby” in the 2003 championship. According to the results of the championship, the Kazan club, the debutant of the Premier League, took an honorable third place, ahead of the Moscow team by one point.
In 2005, Roman’s contract with Rubin ended. Oddly enough, the parties could not resolve the terms of the extension of the agreement, and Sharonov left the team. The next place for his future football career, he chose the team-debutant of the Premier League Grozny "Terek". Roman signed a contract for 2 years with this club. The team was so unprepared for the competition that it took last place in the championship. The next season, the player was required to spend in the first division.
In this league, he played the following year, as a player in the Yaroslavl “Shinnik”. This was the third and last club (after Metallurg and Rubin), which Sharonov helped to improve in class. Having entered the Premier League with the team, the player unilaterally breaks the agreement with the club (non-compliance by the team with the terms of the contract) and returns again to Rubin.
And it must happen that again, in his first match for a new-old club, Roman scores a goal for the same Lokomotiv. Moreover, this ball is the only one for the football player that season. It was then that the capital appreciated what it had overlooked many years ago, having failed to discern its playing potential in Roman Sharonov. Proposals from Spartak, CSKA, Lokomotiv will come later when the footballer will play in the Russian team. But now the player himself will not be eager to play for the capital’s teams.
From 2008 to 2014, Sharonov defended the honor of Kazan Rubin. During this period, he spent more than a hundred fights, scoring 5 goals against the opponents. In April 2011, Roman played the 200th match in the club in the national championship.

Roman played his first match for the Russian national team in a friendly match against Bulgaria. It was a duel in preparation for the 2004 European Championship. In this meeting, the football player opened the list of Rubin players who received a call to the country's main team.
Sharonov was actively involved in the failure at the most European forum in Portugal. Roman played two matches of the tournament. In the first, against the Spanish national team, he was removed for two warnings. After serving the match, Sharonov went to the final meeting with the Greek national team in the starting lineup. After the 2004 European Championship, Roman took part in two matches for the selection for the 2006 World Cup.
