As a young man, Murat was fond of football, judo and wrestling. But boxing was a real discovery for Murat at the age of 14. Being a simple amateur, the young man got into the boxing club “Ariana” to the famous Russian coach Vitaly Konstantinovich Slanov. By the way, Gassiev is still training under the guidance of his first mentor.
A little biography
Boxer Gassiev grew up in a rather poor family. The boy’s father died while he was still in elementary school. And the mother had to work hard at several jobs in order to raise two children. Therefore, the very young Murat had to go to a construction site in search of a part-time job. It was during the period of work at the construction site that Slanov noticed the teenager, who is the permanent leader of the guy so far.
Carier start
The debut of boxer Gassiev in the field of professional boxing took place at the age of 18 years. In the battle between opponents of equal strength, the Ossetians defeated the Ukrainian Roman Mirzaev, although he got it with great difficulty. And only 2 years later at a rematch Murat proved that he had rightfully won the previous victory, completing the match with Mirzaev ahead of schedule. In the same year, the boxer Gassiev easily knocked out the Georgian fighter Levan Jamardashvili in the second round, thanks to which he won the world youth championship. And just a year later, Murat Gassiev received the IBF European Championship title, successfully completing the match with Ismail Abdula.
Murat Gassiev's fights
Having defeated Leon Hart in 2014, boxer Gassiev went to additional training in America, where he studied under the leadership of Abel Sanchez. However, despite good sports training, a quick take-off on the career ladder was prevented by failure at the Russian Championship.
Then Gassiev did not qualify for the European championship because of an unfortunate oversight: the boxer, not having heard the judge’s command, dealt his opponent a heavy blow. It was because of these events that Murat lost the chance to become a master of sports of international level, although everything promised him a definite victory. In return, the boxer signed a very promising contract with the UralBoxPromotion organization and changed his place of residence, having moved to Chelyabinsk.
The year 2016 was marked for boxer Gassiev with a number of winning fights, one of which was a fight with American Jordan Shimmell. Ossetian knocked out his opponent in the first round. Murat prepared very seriously for this fight - in the American American sports camp Deontay Wilder, who was recognized as the world champion in the heavyweight category.
In the same year, participating in a duel of twelve rounds in Moscow, Murat defeated the Russian Denis Lebedev, who at that time had the title of world champion. It was this fight that brought boxer Gassiev the coveted IBF heavyweight world title.
Another significant match took place in 2016. True, this battle was not so successful for Gassiev. The winner of this fight was supposed to win the world title, however, the referees recognized the fight as failed due to Murat’s blow after the bell.
Lately
Gassiev now lives in a hostel at the Chelyabinsk boxing training center. The athlete devotes all his time to training and recovery. In recent years, there have been no significant fights in Murat’s life, however, all his actions are now aimed at achieving one goal - winning the coveted title. In the near future, the boxer plans to finally move to Chelyabinsk, which creates all the conditions for the development of Murat as a professional athlete.
