With the first sunshine that flickered after winter frosts, the first spring guests in the form of ladybugs fly to the ground. They can be found everywhere: in an apartment, park, on the street, in the city, garden, forest. Scientists have named more than a thousand species of these insects and do not warrant that another new species does not fly anywhere. But few people think about how enormous the symbol of the ladybug is.
About biological species
Ladybug (easter eggs, lambrica, cocktails) is a small insect whose length does not exceed 6 mm. It feeds on aphids and other larvae of pests, so it is on the list of favorite insects of gardeners and farmers.
From studies of scientists it became known that one individual in its life can destroy up to 5000 larvae! Thanks to this, it was included in commercial production, and now ladybug eggs can be found in any agricultural store.
Insect larvae also act as an adult. Therefore, from the time of hatching from eggs, they are ready to eat pests. The ladybug does not have serious enemies in the natural environment, but still in a critical situation she can protect herself: she pretends to be dead or starts to stink badly.
Myths
There are many myths and assumptions associated with the insect. In the legends of the Thunderer, an unpleasant moment is mentioned when he learns about the betrayal of his wife. An angry Perun threw a bright lightning at her, turning her into a small creature of red color. On her back there were traces of blows of celestial arrows in the form of black dots. You can meet another legend about the ladybug. Seven children were born to the sun god, which corresponds to the number of black spots on the back of the insect.
In Baltic art, the insect is associated with the pet of the gods. Therefore, all its inherent names are paired with the prefix "divine": a lady's hen, a ladybug and a lady's sheep. Indian mythology supports this idea by dubbing this insect "the one whose shepherd Indra."
But this is not her only purpose. They ask a ladybug about the upcoming weather and the number of crops, consult with the choice of a future life partner, try to find out about their future life or the exact date of death. Therefore, we can conclude that it was considered an intermediary between worlds, a kind of bridge between man and the gods. People believed that the ladybug lives in heaven, and flies to the earth when it is necessary to convey the words of the Almighty. To facilitate this path, the Virgin Mary gave her her cloak. From here came the corresponding European names: the beetle of Mary, the bird of Our Lady and so on.
To see an insect in a dream can mean:
- good luck;
- success in personal affairs;
- the need to pay attention to events in the family circle.
Ladybug as a mascot
Each nation had its own answer to the question of what the symbol of a ladybug means. Therefore, at the moment, many interpretations are associated with her image. Most often, this insect is credited with the ability to attract good luck, so it is painted together with clover or horse horseshoe, which help in this. The opinion that the main meaning of the symbol of the ladybug is to bring love and increase the level of sexuality to the life of his master is no less widespread. A slightly less popular version, taken from mythology, according to which such an insect was associated with the summer, luck and successful life of a happy person.
It is not surprising that the mascot with the image of the symbol of a ladybug is not credited with anything. Therefore, it is popular as a gift. Knowledgeable people are advised to give such a thing to young girls or women so that they can arrange their personal life in the near future.
Equally important is the fact that the insect itself does not mean anything. A separate role is played by black dots on the back, on the amount of which the final meaning of the symbol of the ladybug depends:
- Help in the business begun.
- Peace of mind and harmony with the outside world.
- The attraction of judgment and wisdom in making final decisions.
- Preserved from people with bad thoughts.
- Improve creative work skills.
- Increase learning ability.
- Endless luck and huge success.
As a mascot with an image of an insect, jewelry is used. It can be brooches, earrings, bracelet, beads. If you want to strengthen the sacred meaning of the symbol of a ladybug, they are supplemented with appropriate precious or decorative stones.
