Planning as a management function is the definition of the various tasks of the functioning and development of the enterprise, as well as the ways and money to achieve them. Any organization necessarily requires planning, because many management decisions are made:
• resources are allocated;
• coordinated activities among individual units;
• coordinated with the market;
• creating an effective internal structure;
• activity is monitored;
• the organization is developing in the future.
Planning as a management function is able to provide timely decisions, as well as to avoid haste in the decision. With its help, a clear task is established and the right way to implement it, and mandatory control of the situation.
Common enterprise management functions:
- predicts and plans;
- organizes the work;
- motivates;
- coordinates and regulates;
- performance of control, accounting, analysis.
The functions of management in the enterprise, which stand out, given the activity:
- implementation of long-term and current economic and social planning;
- organized work on standardization;
- accounting and reporting;
- performance of economic analysis;
- production is technically prepared;
- production is organized;
- manage the process;
- promptly manage production;
The functions of modern management are quite diverse.
Planning as a management function is:
• goal setting (goals are defined);
• combination (coordination) of the goal and means of achieving it;
• develops or unity of the existing system of the company, and its future development.
Goal-setting is the development of tasks, and these are the general goals of the company and the goals of its individual division. The result is different goals that underpin planning.
To implement planning, you also need to have an organized organization system. The work of the company is directed so that a planned indicator is obtained, and the results depend on how this work is built and coordinated. Even the most ideal plan will not be implemented if there is no such organization. There must be executive structures. In addition, the organization should be able to develop in the future, because if this does not happen, then everything will collapse. The future activities of the organization depend on the external environment, on the skill and knowledge of employees, on those places that belong to the organization in the industry.
All planning in the company can be divided into such levels: strategic and operational. Strategic planning as a management function is the definition of the organization’s goals and procedures in the long term, operational is the system with which the organization is currently managed. These two types of planning connect the organization, in general, with all the specific units and this is the key to successful coordination of actions. If we talk about the organization in general, the planning is carried out in this way:
1. Develop the mission of the organization.
2. Given the mission, develop a strategic benchmark or line of work (a benchmark is often called a quality goal).
3. Assess and analyze the external and internal environment of the organization.
4. Define a strategic alternative.
5. Choose a specific strategy or path to achieving goals. Answer the question "what to do?".
6. When the goal is set and alternative paths are chosen in order to get it, it requires the development of tactical plans, procedures, rules.
Based on all of the above, we can conclude that planning as a management function allows a modern enterprise to develop extremely efficiently and dynamically, without spending extra financial resources.
