The skating rink in the yard is a great entertainment for both children and adults. Here they can frolic, spend their overwhelming energy, pull up their physical form and just have fun. Naturally, such an ice rink needs to be properly built. It is quite possible to do it yourself, however, you must know some of the subtleties of the process.
How to choose a place to work?
Before pouring ice, you need to find a suitable place and prepare it. If you have a multi-storey building near which there is a
sports ground, then a homemade skating rink can be equipped there. Naturally, you will need the permission of all residents and the housing office.
The surface that will be used under the ice rink should be flat, without any hills or pits. It is desirable that it has a slight bias. In this case, the water that forms after the ice has melted will drain without harming the surface of the site. Naturally, it is necessary to determine the size of the future rink. The site should be well lit, have comprehensive access and be far from the road.
Features of the preparation of the base
All work should be done in suitable weather. The base must be free of debris, snow and ice. Only now can we begin to prepare it. That is, you need to pour snow on the cleared area and compact it well. The layer thickness should be at least 5 cm. It is necessary to ram the snow very tightly so that it can be walked freely without falling through. If the site does not have sides, then you can make them yourself from snow or wooden boards. If the base is prepared, you can start pouring.
What tools are needed to work?
Before you make a skating rink in the yard, you need to collect the tool that you need for work:
- wooden boards (for the construction of sides);
- garden skating rink (for compacting snow);
- medium diameter hose (fire hydrant possible);
- sprayer (so that the ice is homogeneous);
- a large mop (to eliminate bumps and excess ice).
Naturally, you will need a lot of water, so immediately think about where you will take it. In this case, you can also agree with the house management.
Proper roller filling
Now we proceed, in fact, to the very spraying of water. This should be done at a temperature that will not exceed 4 degrees below zero. Otherwise, the water will freeze for a very long time. Before pouring the roller in the yard, prepare a hose, check how tight its connection to the crane is, and also put a spray gun on it. If this element is not used, the ice will fall with the influxes, and not evenly (especially in
severe frost).
Since it is not difficult to fill the rink in the yard, we must not forget about the small nuances that are present in the work. For example, the first and all subsequent layers should be sprayed very carefully, without the formation of large puddles. Their thickness should be at least 1.5-2 cm. If the surface of the roller is not completely smooth, then it can be smoothed out using hot water, a rag and a mop. Do not fill in snowy weather. In this case, the surface will be bumpy.
Before filling the skating rink in the yard, please note that you need to do the procedure several times. That is, between the construction of the layers, it is necessary to hold for several hours so that the ice has the opportunity to freeze well. Before each subsequent pouring, it is necessary to level and clear the previous surface of snow. Hoses with water should not lie on the ice, as it can quickly melt under them.
Note that the fill must be done clockwise and against it. In this case, spray water in a circle. The wind in this case should blow in your back. If the ice has holes or cracks, they must be fixed. For this, gruel from snow and water is used. After the βrepairedβ place hardens, it must be sanded.
Features of ice rink care
Before you fill the rink in the yard, you should remember that it requires some care. Only in this case will he be able to please children and adults as long as possible. For example, you will have to remove snow from the surface of the ice each time. If defects have appeared on the roller after operation, the surface will have to be refilled. Update the last layer often enough.
Once a week, clean the roller with a mop and a soft cloth. After this procedure, the ice becomes not only clean, but also smooth. For snow removal, plastic shovels can be used. Naturally, all rink care tools should have universal access. For example, children can remove snow from a skating rink, and adults will already fill it.
It should be noted that a similar skating rink can be made in the courtyard of a private house. Naturally, it can be much smaller in size, but it will bring no less joy to the kids. Good luck
