Bryansk Engineering Plant is the pride of the region

CJSC Bryansk Engineering Plant is not only the oldest engineering production in the Bryansk region, but also one of the longest existing enterprises in Russia. How a company created in the second half of the eighteenth century manages to remain among the most promising manufacturers and create products relevant to the modern world, this article describes.

History

UK "Bryansk Engineering Plant" in the form that everyone knows, did not appear immediately. In 1865, a sawmill was founded here. Since June 20, 1873, the company expanded its horizons to a rolling mill, ironworks and a mechanical plant. It was this joint-stock company that led to the creation of a working village called Bezhitsa, which exists to this day in the format of a large administrative region of Bryansk. By 1978, the plant was awarded the title of the third steel producer in Russia. The eighties marked the beginning of the production of railcars, tanks and platforms. Since 1896, the Bryansk Engineering Plant began to occupy a leading place in many exhibitions.

1907 is marked by the date of the release of steam locomotives from the B series here. By 1940, all the heavy tanks on the market were from the Bryansk region, 28% of locomotives of the CO series, 29% of heavy trucks in Russia were also produced at BMZ. The Bryansk Engineering Plant in 1946 created the first Pobeda steam engine. In 1961, the first marine engine was tested at the plant . From 1962 to 1995, the factory began to produce refrigerators and shunting locomotives. Also during this period, the organization structure was introduced, which has survived to this day. Since 1965, the plant’s production was divided into 3 specializations: diesel, metallurgical and transport engineering.

Modern BMZ

Since 2002, the Bryansk Engineering Plant has become part of Transmashholding CJSC. Consider the dynamics of the enterprise over the years:

  1. 2005 - the first freight diesel locomotive in Russia with two sections and a power transmission is created at the Bryansk Engineering Plant.
  2. 2006 is the date of the creation of the Vityaz diesel locomotive with an asynchronous drive.
  3. 2009 is a difficult period for BMZ. The plant has virtually no orders, which leads to a massive reduction in staff.
  4. 2012 - a change of management followed by equipment upgrades, repair of premises and a complete reorganization of production.
  5. 2013 - Bryansk Engineering Plant becomes a winner in the competition of the best innovative developments in the field of railway transport.
  6. 2015 - BMZ creates a new generation diesel locomotive.

Today, the Bryansk Engineering is a dynamically developing enterprise, which constantly create new products and work real professionals in their field.

Enterprise Products

Bryansk Engineering Plant is one of the leaders in the market of industrial engineering. Engineering at BMZ includes the creation of the following products:

  • Trunk locomotives - the Vityaz locomotive is produced at the plant, which differs from others in the presence of an asynchronous motor, and the locomotive, created by 90% from domestic spare parts, is designed to support the import substitution policy.
  • Shunting diesel locomotives - only 4 types: TEM18DM, TEM 28, TEM19, TEM TMH.
  • Freight cars - hopper cars for transporting grain and mineral fertilizers of various models and a specialized hopper car for transporting cement.
  • Spare parts - marine engines are produced at BMZ, as well as spare parts for shunting diesel locomotives and freight cars.

Production system

By production at BMZ, a standardized list of techniques and tools is used. This approach allows you to rationally use resources and constantly improve customer satisfaction. The principle of operation at the plant is based on the lean manufacturing technique. In the framework of this technique, a philosophy is observed at BMZ, which implies fundamental changes in the mentality and thinking of employees. According to the Lean Production system, the whole production and 75% of the office are currently fully operational at BMZ.
