Pressed flooring: characteristics, parameters, application

Modern building technologies allow the production of materials characterized by increased wear resistance and high functionality. So, for the manufacture of extruded metal flooring using a mesh grate. This provides the material with exceptional strength and lightness.

Cold rolled steel is used to make the grill. Stripes are formed from it, which are attached to the supporting ribs of the flooring in increments corresponding to the size of the cells. An additional structural strength is given by a reinforcing profile, which is mounted on its edges. This technology allows you to achieve a uniform distribution of the load on the material, provides resistance to twisting and deformation.

Technological features of the material

Extruded Flooring usually made of aluminum or carbon steel made in accordance with GOST 380-2005. Substitutes for these materials may be used if their properties do not differ from those prescribed by the standard.

But sometimes you need floorings that differ in special characteristics. So, if a particularly strong material is required that can withstand significant physical loads, the lattices are formed of steel made according to GOST 19281-99 or GOST 17066-94. If you need a flooring that is insensitive to moisture and a chemically aggressive environment, in its production use the so-called stainless steel - steel that meets the requirements of GOST 5632-72. For the production of light and very durable gratings, aluminum alloys are required, the manufacturing technology of which is described in GOST 4784-97.

As already mentioned, pressed flooring is not a solid steel sheet. Void - lattice cells occupy 80% of its area. But this does not affect the strength of the material. With the correct distribution of the load, the steel grate is able to withstand a mass of up to 800 tons.

All technological parameters by which the flooring is made are standardized. For the carrier strip they are:

  • Height - from 2 cm to 17 cm.
  • Thickness - from 2 mm to 5 mm.
  • The stripe step is always a multiple of 11. For example, cells can have sizes 33x11, 33x22.

The maximum flooring length on the tie strip can be 2800 mm, on the carrier - 2200 mm.

Applications for pressed flooring

Extruded flooring is universal. It is used in both domestic and industrial construction. After all, this material has not only high functionality, but also a rich aesthetic potential. It can be used with:

  • facade decoration;
  • the construction of sun protection structures;
  • installation of false ceilings.

Pressed flooring can be used in power plants and oil rigs, in metallurgical plants and in mines. It is used even in shipbuilding. After all, the grille is light and durable, it is able to provide natural ventilation of the room and additional lighting.

Often it is pressed flooring used for the construction of temporary buildings. This material is cheap, practical and easy to install in any design.

Another popular area of its application is the construction of stairs. The resulting designs will be not only strong and durable, but also light enough.

Why is extruded flooring so popular?

This material was developed as a lighter and cheaper analogue of products from PVL (expanded metal sheet). But now pressed flooring is in great demand in the construction market. There are many reasons for this:

  • Thanks to the supporting strip and the reinforcing frame, the flooring prevents the structure from bending and swaying.
  • This material is lighter, stronger and able to withstand heavy loads.
  • There are flooring modifications that are resistant to aggressive environments and have a long service life.
  • This material is attached using removable joints, and the PVL needs to be welded.
  • On the flooring you can install anti-skid elements.
  • Provides additional lighting and ventilation, allows rain and snow, does not allow precipitation to accumulate on the surface of structures.
  • The flooring is easy to repair, while its performance is not affected.
  • The material is presented in various sizes, among which it is easy to choose the right option.
