Robbie Fowler was born in 1975 in Liverpool, respectively, he did not see for himself any other option but to go to the football school of the club of the same name. There he showed himself just fine and until 1993 he played for youth teams, until at the age of 18 he signed a professional contract, after which he immediately became a base player and gradually won the role of a key figure. In his very first season for Liverpool, Fowler scored 18 goals in 34 matches, and in subsequent ones he continued to develop his success. In three seasons, he scored more than thirty goals in all tournaments, twice becoming the youngest player of the year in England. However, the next three seasons were a step back for Fowler: a large number of injuries and inappropriate behavior of the player, which now and then led to lengthy disqualifications, reduced his appearances for the club by half, and in the 99/00 season he generally scored only 3 goals. But then the hero of our story rehabilitated and attracted the attention of the Leeds club, which was larger at that time, which laid out 17 million euros for the player. In those days, it was considered a very large sum. So Robbie Fowler left his home club in 2001 at the age of 26.

"Leeds"

For this club, Robbie Fowler spent only two seasons, and they were far from the most successful. In the first season, he scored only 12 goals, and in the second - in general 2. It quickly became clear that Leeds was not Fowler’s team, so they immediately started looking for a new “home”. And in 2003, the striker at the age of 28 moved to Manchester City, which paid 10 million euros for the player. It was far from the best and smartest purchase, since by that time it had become obvious that Fowler's career had gone to sunset.

Manchester City and rental

Robbie Fowler played for Manchester City for three years. The footballer entered the field 91 times during this time, hitting the opponents' goal only 27 times. That is why it was decided not to renew the contract with him. When the 31-year-old player had six months to complete the contract, he was rented by Liverpool. There he spent 16 matches and scored five goals in them. Naturally, this was not the result that talented Robbie Fowler showed at a young age. What club could take an aging player to itself? Naturally, only his native.

Return to Liverpool

The lease was deemed successful, and Fowler was offered a one-year contract. During this time, he played for Liverpool another 23 matches, scoring 7 goals. They did not renew the contract with the player, and in 2007 he moved to Cardiff City as a free agent. This club at that time played in the “Championship”, the second division of England.

Only in August, at the close of the transfer window, Blackburn signed an agreement with an aged legend for a three-month contract, during which Robbie played six matches without distinguishing himself in them even once. Having not received a proposal to extend the contract, Fowler went to explore new territories.

North Queensland Fury

In 2009, Robbie Fowler, whose photo was already a talisman for the British, decided to explore the new continent and signed a contract with the Australian club North Queensland Fury, for which he played the season. He spent 26 matches in which he scored nine goals. But happiness was short-lived: Fowler quarreled with the coach, then sued the club and tore up the contract with him because of financial problems.

Perth Glory

Deciding to stay in Australia, Fowler signed a contract with Perth Glory, for which he played 28 matches and scored the same number of goals as for the previous club - nine. Everything went fine, but at the end of the season a statement appeared on the club's website that Fowler would not play for the club next year - the player said he wanted to be closer to his family.

Muangtong United

After the Australian experiment, Fowler decided to continue his exotic journeys and signed a contract with the Thai club Muangtong United. There he was soon appointed a playing coach, played twenty matches and scored four goals. In February 2012, at the age of 36, Robbie announced that he was leaving the club and also ending his football career.

Team appearances

As mentioned above, Robbie Fowler also played for England. However, it cannot be said that he was a key figure there: during his career, the athlete spent only 26 matches in which he scored seven goals. His debut took place in 1996, when he was only 21 years old. But he scored his first goal in 1997 in a friendly match against the Mexican team. He also scored five more goals in friendly matches, and only once he managed to excel in the official tournament - the qualifying stage for the 2002 World Cup. He authored one of England’s two goals against Albania. Robbie scored his last goal for the Cameroonians in a friendly match in preparation for the World Cup, but Fowler spent the last match at the World Cup itself - he spent the entire group stage in reserve, but left for the 1/8 finals to fight with the Danes. This game was the last in his career for England.
