Initially, the parents sent the two brothers to the hockey section, but since it was far from home, they did not always succeed in taking the children there. The beginning of his activity coincided with the completion of the career of Rafael Poiret - the legendary biathlete who decided to leave his skis and do coaching. Season 2009-2010
Fourcade Marten became famous in 2010 when he won silver in the mass start at the Olympics. After that, he won three times in competitions at the World Cup. Once in Kontiolahti and twice in Oslo. This allowed him to take fifth place in the overall standings. His brother was the seventh.
Season 2010-2011

He began to realize this task immediately, at the first stage, having won the pursuit race and the individual race. Even before the end of the season, it became clear that the athlete will take 1st place in the overall standings of the World Cup. Season 2012-2013
It was opened by the victory of the Frenchman in the Swedish Östersund (individual race). In the sprint, everything was not so successful - only 10th place. But then Fourcade was able to win the pursuit. The subsequent stages were not very successful: the Frenchman did not take first places. The reason for this was his shoulder injury in Oberhof.
The absence of Svendsen in the pre-Olympic week in Sochi allowed Marten to win in two of the two races held. In an individual competition of 20 kilometers Fourcade missed only once, eliminated a 60-second gap from the leader - Binbacher. As a result, Martin's advantage at the finish was 7 seconds. In the sprint competition for 10 kilometers, the Frenchman did not make a single slip and confidently took first place, beating silver medalist Evgeny Ustyugov for 40 seconds.
The last stage of the World Cup, held in Khanty-Mansiysk, became a triumph for the Frenchman. Fourcade won the sprint race without a single miss. In pursuit, he could not achieve such success. Martin missed at every turn, making 5 mistakes.
Despite a number of failures, according to the results of 2013, Fourcade nevertheless overtook his main rival Svendsen by 421 points, thereby breaking the record for the number of points scored for the season. Also, the biathlete won the Crystal Globes in all kinds of races.
2014 Olympics
