Cameroonian quarterback Benoit Angbwa

Benoit Angbwa is a former Cameroonian footballer who ended his career in 2014. He acted as a right-back. Most of all, Benoit Angbwa was remembered for the fact that he spent almost his entire career in Russia.

Carier start

Benoit Angbwa

Benoit Angbwa was born on January 1, 1982 in Cameroon, where he began his career by enrolling in an academy at the local Fowu Baham club. By the standards of this team, he was a great talent, so he began to receive game practice at the age of 16. In 2001, a 19-year-old guy was spotted by scouts from France, who brought him to Montpellier. Thus began the European adventure of the Cameroonian football player. Benoit Angbwa did not spend his whole career in Europe, playing even for the South American club, and Russia became his home for many years.

However, Angbwa could not take root in Onpellier. He spent a whole year there, never appearing on the field even once. Therefore, in the winter of 2002, he went to Uruguayan Nacional, for which he played for three years. There, the athlete spent 38 matches, scoring four goals, but in January 2005 he was sent on loan back to France, this time to Lille. In the French club, Cameroonian spent 21 matches, scoring one goal. After that, another six months, Angbwa played in Nacional, which, apparently, was not interested in the services of a football player. Therefore, in January 2006, the athlete was sold to the Russian club Wings of the Soviets for five hundred thousand euros.

Game in Russia

Benoit Angbwa completed his career

In Wings of the Soviets, Angbwa immediately began to receive game practice. In the two years he spent there, he played in fifty games. When his contract expired, the Cameroonian moved to Saturn, where he spent three whole years. The footballer entered the field 73 times, scored three goals and went on promotion to Makhachkala β€œAnji”, which at that time gathered various African players in its composition.

But in β€œAnji” Benoit did not take root. He spent thirty matches, scored four goals and in the summer of 2013 he moved to FC Rostov, for which he played only 16 matches. Six months later, the footballer was sold for one million euros back to Wings of the Soviets, the club from which he began to conquer Russia. There Angbwa played another 19 matches in one year, and then made another comeback for one and a half million euros - this time at Anji, where he went on the field 17 more times. In the summer of 2014, Benoit Angbwa ended his career at the age of 32.

Team appearances

In the national team of Cameroon, Angbwa was not a star. He played only 19 matches, scoring one goal. As for the big tournaments, Benoit entered the field once in the 2006 Africa Cup. Then he spent 90 minutes on the field in a duel against the Congo national team. The athlete also went to the 2008 Africa Cup, but he sat there on the bench for all matches. Then he had a great chance to get a trophy without playing a single minute, but the Cameroon team lost to the Egyptian team in the final.

As a result, one of the trophies that Angbwa won in his career was the championship title in the Uruguay Championship in 2002. Two years earlier, the footballer also won the Cameroon Championship with Fow Bach, and in 2005 won the Intertoto Cup along with the French Lille, for which he played on loan.
