Hockey player Kirill Petrov is a popular domestic athlete. He currently plays for the Avangard team from Omsk in the Continental Hockey League. During his career he played in Kazan “Ak Bars”, “Oilman” from Almetyevsk, “Ugra” from Khanty-Mansiysk, the capital of CSKA, spent one season in the team of the American Hockey League “Bridgeport Sound Tigers”. Early career
Hockey player Kirill Petrov was born in 1990. He was born in Kazan. During his career, he played in the junior and youth national teams of Russia at the world championships. The most successful at the youth stage for him was the 2010 World Youth Championship, which was held in Canada.

Professional debut

For Petrov, this was the most successful season in Kazan. He spent 55 games on the site, in which he scored five goals and gave seven assists.
The following year he made his debut with the team in the Continental Hockey League. But he was soon hired for a draft in the NHL. As a result, he managed to play only six matches.
Participation in the draft
Kirill Petrov hoped to continue his club career in the strongest league in the world - the NHL. In the draft he was chosen in the third round. Russian hockey player liked the team “New York Islanders”. However, he only got a chance to officially join the team in 2010.
Because of this, the hero of our article actually lost a whole season. He went to play Neftyanik from Almetyevsk, who played at that time in the Higher Hockey League (the second most important tournament in the country). But he managed to spend only two matches for the team, scoring two goals in them.
Stay in Russia

Universiade performance
In 2009, one of the highest sports achievements of Kirill Petrov at the moment was held. As part of the Russian team, he went to the Universiade. Competitions were held in the Chinese city of Harbin.
The Russians confidently went through the entire tournament distance. In the final match, they were opposed by Canadians. Most of the winning puck was Peter Khokhryakov, Denis Fakhrutdinov, Marat Valiullin and Konstantin Kulikov also scored goals. The meeting ended with a score of 4: 2 in favor of the Russian team. Career at Ugra

As a result, Petrov began the season in the Youth Hockey League, spent two games for “Ak Bars”, and then was put up for draft. He chose Ugra from Khanty-Mansiysk on the condition that he had the right to choose in the fifth round of the draft for the next season.
It was in the “Ugra” Kirill Petrov spent most of the season. The team, which until recently had played in the Premier League, now played quite confidently, taking third place in the Kharlamov division of the Eastern Conference.
True, in the playoffs of “Ugra” could not go far. Its rival was Magnitogorsk “Metallurg”. The confrontation lasted for six fights (2: 4, 2: 1, 4: 3, 1: 2, 3: 4, 1: 4). The statistics of Kirill Petrov that season for “Ugra” was impressive. He spent 53 matches, scored 10 goals, gave 13 assists.
Return to Kazan
In 2011, the hero of our article returned to Ak Bars. In the very first season after his return, he immediately began to demonstrate that he was a player of the main team. As a result, he spent 64 games, 19 goals and 15 assists, this productive striker chalked up.
In the regular season, Ak Bars took third place in Kharlamov’s division in the Eastern Conference, losing only to Magnitogorsk Metallurg and Chelyabinsk Tractor. In the midst of the championship, a tragedy occurred - the Lokomotiv team from Yaroslavl died in a plane crash, which for many overshadowed the ending of the championship.
Petrov's team was in the playoffs. In the quarter finals of their conference, Kazan defeated Salavat Yulaev in six matches - 0: 3, 3: 2, 4: 3, 3: 0, 1: 2, 3: 2.
For the right to play in the final of the conference, Ak Bars already fought with Chelyabinsk Tractor, but not so successfully - 1: 3, 1: 2, 2: 1, 2: 3, 2: 1, 1: 4.
The season 2012-2013 turned out to be productive. In the “Ak Bars” hockey player holds 65 matches. Throws 16 goals in them, makes 9 assists. This time his team even more successfully performs in the regular season, having won in the Kharlamov’s division.
In the playoffs, at first the Kazan team knocked out the Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik from the draw - 5: 1, 3: 0, 2: 1, 3: 2. And in the semi-finals of the conference they defeat the Ufa “Salavat Yulaev” - 2: 3, 0: 2, 3: 0, 5: 3, 4: 3, 3: 4, 4: 3.
For the right to fight for the Gagarin Cup, the Petrov team in the final of the conference meets with the Chelyabinsk Tractor. At first, everything turned out successfully, “Ak Bars” wins two home matches - 2: 1 and 3: 1. And then exchanged victories in Chelyabinsk - 0: 1, 6: 5.
Before the fifth match in Kazan, “Ak Bars” leads in a series of up to four wins with a score of 3: 1. And then a series of failures begins. First, instead of ending the series ahead of time, Kazan lost at home 1: 2 in overtime, and then in Chelyabinsk 2: 3. Five days later, they meet already in the final seventh match in the series with a score of 3: 3, again with a minimal advantage, “Tractor” wins (2: 1).
Despite the blurry ending, Petrov’s game earned the highest ratings. Overseas Islanders turned his attention to him again. In addition, he joined the Russian national team for the World Cup.
World Championship in Sweden and Finland
The 2013 World Cup was the only major international tournament in the Russian team. In the biography of Kirill Petrov, he played a fairly large role.
At the preliminary stage, the Russian team ended up in Group H, along with one of the hosts - the Finns. It all started with a confident victory over Latvia (6: 0). The performance of the national team at the tournament was considered a failure, in many respects it was associated with those hockey players who first went with the team to such a serious tournament. Among them was Petrov.
Playoff Failures
Petrov continues his club career in Kazan. In the 2013-2014 season, in the Kharlamov’s division, a club from the capital of Tatarstan is inferior to the struggle for primacy Magnitogorsk Metallurg. But in the playoffs he will face a crushing defeat from the humble “Siberia” from Novosibirsk. Account in the series 2: 4. Petrov remains one of the team leaders on the site. He holds 59 matches, in which he scores 15 goals, gives 17 assists.
The following year becomes very successful in his career. With Ak Bars, he wins the entire Eastern Conference. In the playoffs he deals with Avtomobilist from Yekaterinburg, and then with Omsk Avangard and Sibir. All these teams Kazan won 4-1 in the series.
Petrov for the first time in his career is in the final of the Gagarin Cup. Ironically, among his achievements, there are even two Gagarin Cup titles in the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 season. Game overseas
After this season, Petrov still goes to the overseas league, but he fails to play a single match in the NHL. From the start, he was sent to the Islanders farm club, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, a member of the American Hockey League.
As part of this team, he holds 13 matches in which he scores only one goal and gives four assists. The performance of the Russian this time does not inspire American managers.
Clubs of recent years
Returning to his homeland, Petrov arrives at Ak Bars, but the team sends him to CSKA in exchange for Stanislav Galimov.
