It was the Kalashnikov assault rifle among helicopters that the honored pilot of the Russian Federation, Vadim Bazykin, called the Mi-8AMTS “Terminator”. Reliable, trouble-free, hardy and tenacious - this is how the Mi-8 proved to be in conditions of military operations in Afghanistan and in other hot spots. Special thermal insulation and heating system, enhanced transmission and auxiliary power units, as well as a digital autopilot for working in the dark polar night or low-orientation terrain - all these qualities were added to “Terminator” by order of the Russian Ministry of Defense to create the Arctic group of forces.
