Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Space Communication" (GPKS) is a national representative of satellite communications services. The organization is subordinate to Rossvyaz (federal Russian communications agency). The general director today is Prokhorov Yu. V.
The organization was founded in 1967. Over the time path to our days, he changed several names:

History of development

- In 1968, by order of the Soviet Ministry of Communications, the Cosmos Communications Station was established. Later it will become the GPKS - a major Russian operator of civilian broadcasting and communications satellites.
- In 1976, the Soviet Union launched the first geostationary satellite for direct broadcasting, Ekran. He became a pioneer among the world systems of this type.
- In 1980, the Dubna Space Communication Center (Moscow Region) was opened. The purpose of its creation - the organization of television broadcasts of the Olympics-1980, held in Moscow. And today it is considered one of the most powerful teleports of the Russian Federation and Europe.
- In 2000, the GPKS signed a contract with the Russian manufacturer of space devices NPO PM for the design and production of modern Express-A satellites. In the same year, two vehicles of this series were successfully launched into orbit.
- In 2001, the SSCC acquired the new status of the Federal Unitary State Enterprise "Space Communications". Today it is the third oldest global operator providing satellite communications services.
- 2003-2009 - During this period, the FSUE “Space Communication” was replenished with seven more Express-AM satellites, as well as a small Express-MD1 spacecraft. It is distinctive that the RSCC took control and control over these facilities. This step helped to improve both the reliability and quality of the services provided by the enterprise.
- In 2009, at the international satellite communications summit in Paris, Cosmic Communications was recognized as the best regional satellite operator of the year among all such global companies.
- In 2014-2015 GPKS almost completely updated its "orbital fleet" - its resources were doubled. Among the "newcomers" - a series of "Express" AT1, AT2, AM5-AM8, AMU1.
- In 2015, at the international summit in Paris, Space Communications was again recognized as the best regional operator of the year.
- In 2016, the RSCC rightfully entered the top ten satellite communications enterprises around the world in its orbital-frequency resource. These are 12 satellites that are in geostationary orbit from 14 ° west to 145 ° east longitude.
Digital television and radio broadcasting
The service "digital broadcasting" is presented in four directions:
- Federal broadcasting. This spread to 5 broadcast zones of the Russian Federation of federal radio and television. Organization of broadcasting of the first, second and further multiplexes of digital packages.
